There’s a new action adventure on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC looking to put your platforming and pyromancy skills to the test in the form of The Forbidden Arts. Will it be setting your next gaming session alight?

Developed by Stingbot Games, The Forbidden Arts whips us off to a magical world, Chora, that’s full of secrets and focuses on a young man named Phoenix. After discovering that he possesses fiery powers within, Phoenix embarks upon a journey to find a greater purpose in life and understand more about himself. Meanwhile, an evil is lurking that’s worse than anything the world has ever seen, necromancer Voltaire, and it’s going to be your job to fend him off using fireballs and conjuring up elemental shields.

As you traverse Chora, you’ll come across a diverse set of biomes including snowy fields, dim caverns, giant beehives, treacherous swamps and more, all of which have been inspired by western and eastern cultures. Prepare to partake in quests, puzzles and mini-games alongside a suspenseful and comedic narrative. A narrative that shines a spotlight on self-discovery and is illustrated in a vivid art style; all set to the melodic sounds of an acoustic guitar.

“We’ve spent many months in Early Access polishing every aspect of The Forbidden Arts, from sound and visuals to gameplay mechanics,” says Sterling Selover, founder, Stingbot Games. “The result is a tight, skill-focused experience that encourages player mastery and development even as Phoenix does the same.”

Should you wish to experience the platforming adventures of The Forbidden Arts, it’s now available for £10.74 via the Xbox Store – or from the Switch eShop and Steam if they’re your preferred gaming platforms, where it has been sat in Early Access on the latter Be sure to get in touch and let us know what you think of it by leaving a comment below or shooting us a message on social media.
