It comes as no surprise that this week’s news was dominated by the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2. Most of the news was great for the game and for its developer Rockstar, but some wasn’t. We talk about it all here, starting with breaking down the fantastic Vulture article from earlier in the week detailing the development of the game and some of the features it will have. Next, reports surfaced this week about physical copies of the game not being available for small, independently run retailers until November. We talk about whether this is fair, and what kind of impact losing a major release like this can have on family owned game stores.
Conversation this week also turned to working conditions at Rockstar, specifically around the amount of hours employees at the developer put in there. We discuss our thoughts on this aspect of the gaming industry as a whole, and whether or not it’s always fair to immediately make anyone involved the villain in the conversation.
In other news, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has broken records, Days Gone has been delayed again, and some people just don’t know when to stay away until they own up for their mistakes, as a familiar face from 2018 video game news returned this week. We discuss all of that and more, including a little bit of talk about Forza Horizon 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
