The official Tour de France 2018 video game gets detailed and dated

-

The sun is shining, the birds are cheeping and the wind has died down – what better time to grab the bike and head out on a two wheeled adventure. That is what many cycling fans will be doing in the months ahead, and with the cycling season kicking off today with the Giro d’italia, the biggest name in the sport is gearing up for another release. Yep, the Tour de France is coming and today we get the first details and release date of the 2018 video game.

So, hitting Xbox One, PS4 and PC in both retail and digital format, the official Tour de France 2018 video game will be released on June 28th 2018, with the console version coming under the usual Tour de France 2018 moniker, and the PC edition rolling the roads along the Pro Cycling Manager 2018 vibe.

With many past versions behind it, the 2018 edition of Tour de France will see you playing as the greatest cycling champions as you hit the official track of Le Tour 2018! Whether you’re after the intensity of the most legendary race, attacking, following or just coasting, or are only interested in the mythical Yellow Jersey, the TDF 2018 video game will aim to deliver.

And this year cycling fans will get to experience a brand new game mode Pro Leader, where you create your own rider and bring him to the top of his career by completing objectives to improve and gain new responsibilities from season to season. The simulation aspect of things sees you given the chance to go even deeper than before thanks to your new team Progression System, an improved Fitness Peak System for your riders, and a more aggressive and realistic AI, making this year’s sprints and breakaways as competitive as ever.

But it won’t just be about the TDF and running alongside the official route will new races and Classics such as the legendary Paris-Roubaix joining the long list of roads you will have to ride to prove you are the best cyclist.

PC players meanwhile will get the fancy ideas of Pro Cycling Manager 2018 as you get to step into the shoes of a sports manager and lead your pro cycling team through a challenge-packed 2018 season, competing in more than 200 races and 500 stages around the world. That will obviously include the famous Tours such as La Vuelta and the iconic Tour de France. It’ll be up to you to make all decisions for your team: hiring the best cyclists and staff, contract negotiations, sponsoring, race scheduling, training…

Solo and online multiplayer offerings will be in place with leagues available and clans for up to 16 players catered for.

Your Manager skills will be tested even more this year with advanced contract and new negotiation management in Career mode, thanks to new sponsors negotiations, in-depth transfer and new-added recruitment mechanics. A deeper progression system arrives this year in Pro Cyclist mode too, with more possibilities than ever to personalize and build your cyclist, as riders now get a double specialization from the beginning of their career – one main and one secondary!

Should you wish to experience enhanced in-race immersion with many improvements, including bigger breakaways and more realistic and aggressive AI during sprints, then this is your best bet yet.

It’s just a shame it’s limited to the PC world. For the rest of us cycling fans though, then all we need to worry about is that Tour de France 2018 on Xbox One and PS4 and Pro Cycling Manager 2018 on PC, will release in retail stores and for download on June 28th.

Let us know if you’ll be grabbing the chance to climb the French mountains any time soon!
