The stunning Stela launches on Xbox One

There are games that favour exposition and the ‘holding your hand” technique so you, the gamer, know exactly where you are, who you are and what you’re supposed to do next. These are not bad experiences, and it has to be said that some of the best games in the world use this system to great effect; games, like Red Dead Redemption II and Assassin’s Creed Origins. Other games though try a different route, employing no voice-over or cut scene or tutorial, but just let you discover the world and its narrative alongside the hero. Stela on Xbox One is one of those games and it has released today.

Available to download right now on Xbox One, Stela looks like it’s been influenced by games such as Inside and Little Nightmares, particularly in the way its looks and plays. The game starts in a beautiful but decaying and dying strange world where you play a woman trying to escape. In it, you travel over a host of different environments and partake in some epic adventures.

For the price tag of £16.74, Stela promises to blend action-adventure, stealth, and puzzle-solving in this mysteriously intriguing experience. The game provides plenty of mammoth set pieces and a soulful tale that will tell a huge narrative without the use of words. An original soundtrack is also in place, with the developers at Skybox Labs, who are also working on the new Halo game – Infinite – haven’t pulled one out of the bag with everything that Stela delivers.

Stela is available right now on Xbox One and the Xbox Store will allow you the chance to play out this unique action-adventure. We have a full review of the game up and live, ready for your perusal right now, so make sure you give it a little read. In the meantime, and as you’re waiting for your download to complete, make sure you drop into the comments and let us know if this new tale is one you’ll be checking out.

Game Description:

Stela is a cinematic, atmospheric platformer about a young woman witnessing the final days of a mysterious ancient world. Overcome daunting challenges, treacherous terrain, and gargantuan beasts while traversing a decaying land. Manipulate the environment to solve elaborate puzzles and creep past dangerous creatures under cover of muted landscapes, all set to an original soundtrack. Survive sweeping environments including mysterious towns, haunting forests, and massive subterranean ruins brought to life in an atmospheric experience.
