Top Xbox One games coming in 2019

-

This year has already seen plenty of great games released for the Xbox One. From the awesome sci-fi action capers of Anthem, to the spooky first-person shooter drama of Metro Exodus, there has been plenty to keep us going for the remainder of the winter months.

Now that spring is just about here, there are still many decent new Xbox One titles to look forward to with the likes of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Final Fantasy VII, Dead or Alive 6, and even Xenon Racer looking to keep us busy. But what lies in wait for us for the remainder of 2019?

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Wolfenstein is one of the most enjoyable gaming franchises around, and whilst no release date for Wolfenstein: Youngblood has been set just yet, it’s sure to be a worthwhile addition to the canon. So what sets this game apart from the likes of Wolfenstein 2?

Firstly, this a co-op title that features the two main characters, Soph and Blazkowicz. Bethesda is understandably keeping details of this release fairly limited, but it looks like it will be set in the 1980s and feature BJ Blazkowicz’s fully grown-up twin daughters. Apart from this, Wolfenstein: Youngblood looks like it will feature yet more Nazi-slaying options as you try and hunt down the girls’ father in Paris. Although it’s more of a spin-off than a full sequel, it will set things up nicely for whenever Wolfenstein 3 comes around.

Gears 5

Gears of War is another one of our favourite gaming franchises, and we are expecting big things from Gears 5. So far, it looks to be yet another great third-person shooter from The Coalition, and it will focus on Kait Diaz, rather than the usually lumpen guys who have dominated the series in the past. You’ll have to guide Kait as she tried to discover her family’s origins, and you’ll also get to see the return of popular Gears characters like JD Fenix and Delmont Walker.

But will the Gears franchise ever make it into the esports realm? Whilst titles like League of Legends have become such a success that they have even generated dedicated betting resources like https://www.lolbettingsites.com/, the lack of multiplayer options in Gears has limited its competitive appeal. But the most exciting aspect of the Gears 5 release is the fact that there are meant to be online cooperative gameplay options to open things up for some multiplayer carnage.

Cyberpunk 2077

We’ve seen many open world games have varying levels of success over the past few years. But Cyberpunk 2077 looks like it could be one of the best yet. This RPG game comes from CD Projekt RED who were of course behind the awesome Witcher series, and it’s actually based on a pen-and-paper role playing game from many years ago.

Details are still scarce about what will feature in Cyberpunk 2077, but it looks like it will take place in a dystopian metropolis called Night City. Obviously, we are expecting it to give us chance to cater to all of our inner Blade Runners, and with the options for getting all manner of cybernetic implants and interacting with the weird and wonderful residents of Night City, we can’t wait for Cyberpunk 2077 to finally come to our Xbox Ones.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Respawn have given us plenty of decent titles in the past like TitanFall, and they get the chance to try their hand at the Star Wars franchise in 2019. This looks to be a story-based game that’s based after the Jedi-slaughtering carnage of Revenge of the Sith, and apart from that, we have to admit that we don’t know too much about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

However, we do know that it’s going to be a third-person adventure, plus the fact that God of War’s Stig Asmussen is directing things will mean that it should be a pretty good addition to the much-loved Star Wars franchise.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Blind Forest was one of the most surprising and innovative games to have hit the Xbox for years, and we are looking forward to seeing how Moon Studios are aiming to surpass this with Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

The title was previewed way back in 2017, and since then we’ve learned that we’ll get to see Ori exploring the world beyond the tree village of the first game. Hopefully more will be revealed when this action adventure game drops at some point during 2019.
