Turn-based strategy hits Xbox One as Numantia arrives as a digital download

-

If you’re looking for something a little different, or just want to run through real life historical events, then Numantia may well be the game for you. You know all about the Siege of Numantia yeah?

Released today on Xbox One, Numantia is a turn based strategic affair which places you in the middle of the ancient conflict between the city of Numantia, and the might of Rome. Priced at £23.99, you’ll get the chance to channel your inner Numantian warrior as you take on the massive Roman empire and the battle hardened legions that come your way.

Created to commemorate the 2150th anniversary of the Siege of Numantia, Numantia should contain just enough to content to allow you to really get to grips with a bit of historic fighting, letting you participate in some epic fights alongside real historical figures. 20 years of conflict have been rolled into one narrative-driven single-player campaign set in the Iberian Peninsula during the Roman Republic era, but should you prefer to bring a friend to the fight, you can challenge them in an offline one-on-one battle. Intense tactical combat is obviously promised, and you’ll get to lead an army of 30 units – including being given the chance to utilise long-range slingers and powerful war heroes to crush your opponent and secure victory.

Numantia also features a fairly robust choice-based event system. The decisions you make will benefit or inadvertently hurt your own army, so you’ll need to decide on whether it’s worth heading on the offensive and engaging in endless skirmishes, or whether you should wait for the right time to strike at the heart of the enemy?

Key features include:

  • Experience a narrative-driven campaign set between 153 B.C. and 133 B.C.
  • Choose between the fearless Celtiberian tribe of Numantia or the mighty Republican army of Rome.
  • Lead a massive army of 30 units – such as spearmen, slingers, cavalry, and even siege machines – in epic battles.
  • Take on the campaign solo or fight a friend in a one-on-one battle.
  • Manage a full-fledged army and witness historical events unfold.

Take command, plot a winning strategy, and immerse yourself in historical events that shaped the course of European history in Numantia right now. Get yourself over to the Microsoft Store. You can also pick the game up on PC and PS4 already.

Game Description:

Numantia is a Turn-Based Strategy game that takes place in the ancient conflict between Rome and the city of Numantia, in a war that lasted for more than two decades. The choice is yours: Play as a Numantian warrior against the Roman legions or expand the power of Rome throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Relive history fighting in epic battles alongside real historical figures, commemorating the 2150th anniversary of the Siege of Numantia.

Numantia has been taken down from the Microsoft store. Since there are very few turn-base strategy games on the xbox, especially based on real history (especially ancient Rome) – it seems a huge loss to me. Could anybody tell me is it possible to still download the game? Willing to pay a double of its original price (was waiting for a sale on it and now regret it)?

If the price is sensible on this I’ll give it a punt. I like a good strategy game and this looks a bit Risk ish which is good in my eyes.

It’s not a bad price, might have to wait until next payday though as I think I’ll have to buy Forza or the new Mordor game to go with my X next week.
