Tom Clancy’s The Division has seen us tracing lost agents and trekking through the snow covered streets of mid-crisis Manhattan, New York for the best part of a year and a half now, but whilst content still remains plentiful, there is still much more yet to come from the guys over at Ubisoft.
Ubisoft have recently announced that the next major update to Tom Clancy’s The Division, Update 1.8 “Resistance”, will release simultaneously on all major platforms this Autumn, and is set to be the biggest free update to arrive in the game, bringing with it two new game modes and an expansion to the map area with the new West Side Pier.
The update will bring new PvE and PvP combat to the game, with Resistance and Skirmish game modes being added to The Division.
The first of the new game modes, Reistance (PvE), sees the different factions within the game teaming up for the first time against the Division agents. In this mode, various enemy NPCs continuously spawn in waves, as up to four Division Agents try to survive for as long as possible in a bid to earn the best rewards.
The second of the new modes, Skirmish (PvP), pits two teams with four agents each against one another, with players competing against each other for the highest number of kills before the timer expires and points earned every time a downed enemy is killed.
Along with the new modes comes a new social hub for all Division agents to convene and group up with other agents before taking the fight to the West Side Pier.
The West Side Pier is another exciting new addition coming to the game, providing players with an entirely new area to explore and will spread across two zones, all of which is accessible to all players. With defeated enemies last seen converging towards the area and starting to work together, it’s up to you as Division agents to head in and determine the reasons behind the new alliance and the sudden point of interest.
Additionally Update 1.8 will bring changes and improvements to the Underground DLC, a revamp of the game’s Rogue agent mechanics within the Dark Zone and an optimisation of the current gear system to allow players to improve and change the stats of their favourite gear.
Update 1.8 is the second and final major update planned for Year 2 of the game, following on from Update 1.7 which has already brought several changes and quality of life improvements to Tom Clancy’s The Division this year.
