Whilst all eyes are focused on the E3 conferences, the Xbox Live Deals with Gold carry on as normal, bringing discounts to both Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers. What we like to do is offer a helping hand in deciding which are actually worth a purchase from the sale for 14th – 20th June 2016.
This week it really is a case of the good, the bad, and the slightly ugly, mainly from publishers EA but there are a couple of absolute steals. So, let’s have a look.
Grab – Battlefield 4 & Battlefield Hardline – 85% off – £3.75 each
Normally we’d be harking on about the EA Access scheme, and we will do shortly, however we had to do a second take at the pricing for these two impressive shooters. For anyone who isn’t interested in the other games EA do, this is a steal for each of the Battlefield games. Battlefield 4 is simply all out warfare whilst Battlefield Hardline is more cops and robbers, with both having massive online battles and decent, albeit short, single player offerings.
They are easily worth the couple of quid that is being asked for them.
Leave – Rory McIlroy PGA Tour & Star Wars Battlefront – Various prices and editions
Here we go, back to the old debate of whether it’s worth buying these EA games that are either in the EA Access Vault or are eventually going to be. For the price of Star Wars Battlefront in the sale, you can grab a full year of EA Access with full games such as Rory McIlroy, Titanfall and Dragon Age Inquisition, as well as ten hours of play on Battlefront until it inevitably enters the Vault.
In the case of the golf game, Rory’s PGA Tour doesn’t set the world on fire and so even though it’s relatively cheap, you’d be better getting a month of EA Access for £3.99 to tee off because it shouldn’t even take that long to play all it has to offer.
Tempter – Forza Horizon 2 – 50% off & 33% off – £15.00 (One) & £20.09 (360)
Cruising around Southern France became one of our favourite pastimes back in 2014 and has frequently been revisited many times since. So why is this just a tempting purchase? Well, with the Forza Horizon 3 launch approaching in a few months, you have to weigh up whether it’s worth £15 and if you’ll get enough out of it before September when the third title is released.
Having played it on both consoles, it’s difficult to fathom why the Xbox 360 version costs more considering its slightly limited environment. Nevertheless on the Xbox One, pricing seems just about right for a two year old game where racing all over France and Italy doesn’t tire, especially with the online party games.
