Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold bargains should you pick up? – 16th January 2018

-

It’s fair to say that 2018 has proven to be rather disappointing so far when it comes to the weekly Xbox Live Deals With Gold sales, but surely though that can only mean things will get better, right? Well it’s that time of week once more, so join us as we take a look at this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale 16th-22nd Jan 2018, and see if there is anything to be shouting about that deserves our attention. After all, we need something to tide us over till those big releases start to arrive.

GrabThe Fall – 80% off – £1.60

It may not be a game that screams excitement, what with its slow-paced point and click/platforming/shooting nature, but anyone looking for a simplistic game to sit down with for some quiet afternoon gaming will find easy work in The Fall.

What’s better is that with the whole game taking between four to five hours to complete and achievements easy to come by, this is a perfect adventure for those looking for some extra Gamerscore. Of course, if it’s quality gameplay you’re after then this probably isn’t the best option out there, but for under two pounds, it’s not the worst option available.

GrabSlender: The Arrival – 80% off – £1.60

With so many creepy pasta stories out there, it can be hard to find the general concept even remotely freakish anymore, but the Slenderman story has always been one that’s shone above the rest when it comes to a good and scary tale.

Slender: The Arrival is the game that brought the freakish tale to consoles, with the first level sending players after the elusive eight pages around a darkened forest, before progressing onto even darker Slenderman tales.

Horror has become a popular attraction once more, but it can be hard to find a game well worth the money that offers any real originality with its scares, but for the same price as our first deal, Slender: The Arrival can bring you a tale with jumps, bumps and an unnerving original story of one the most feared creations to ever grace a creepy pasta story.

GrabOctodad: Dadliest Catch – 75% off – £3.00

It takes nimble fingers, precise planning, and an abundance of patience when it comes to mastering the unique controls of Octodad, but if you’re looking for something a little different to the usual hustle and bustle of your action adventures out there, then this is certainly one adventure not to turn your nose up at.

In Octodad, you take on the role of an Octopus who’s spent his entire life disguised as a human due to fear of being cooked alive by uncaring chef Fujimoto. With a wife and kids unknowing to him being a cephalopod, and every day human tasks often providing an extreme challenge, can you help Octodad keep his disguise?

For just £3 the least you can do is try, right? Did I mention that Octodad: Dadliest Catch is one of the most enjoyable games available? Bargain.

LeaveHalo 5: Guardians Digital Deluxe Edition – 40% off – £20.99

I’m a big fan of shooters, and I’m a big fan of Halo. So why am I here telling you to avoid the most recent entry into Microsoft’s legendary shooter? Well because at just a penny shy of £21, this deal hardly screams bargain, especially when players can sign up for a membership with the highly underrated Xbox Game Pass and find Halo 5: Guardians included as part of the deal for a much more wallet friendly price.

Is the game bad? Of course not. But should you be shelling out this price for a game that arrived on Xbox in late 2015 with the belief you’re grabbing a bargain? Definitely not.

Whilst we would certainly recommend anyone who’s yet to dive into Microsoft’s biggest shooter to take a look, you’d be much better off signing up for a Xbox Game Pass membership to get your fix.

So, there we have it. Another week of deals, and our thoughts on which ones you should be picking up and which ones are best left behind. Do you agree with our choices? Let us know in the comments below or via our usual social channels.

Before you go, don’t forget to head on over to CDkeys to grab some of that super cheap Xbox Live credit to help spread the costs a little further this week. If you’re after the full list of Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale bargains for the 16th-22nd Jan 2018, then hit up this article.
