After a few weeks of rather decent discounts on both Xbox One and Xbox 360, the inevitable had to happen. Yep that’s right, this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale, the one running between the 1st-7th November 2016, is a bit of a stinker.
Unless of course you want to pick up one of the EA Sports titles that have kindly been reduced by a little. But the smart kids will keep away from that and look deeper into the sale in order to grab some proper bargains. But what are they? And which of the few included should you be keeping away from? We take a look…
Grab – Red Faction: Guerrilla – 85% off – £2.24
Red Faction: Guerrilla is a whole load of fun and even though it’s a game that is quite possibly beginning to show its age, for a measly £2.24, it really should be picked up…especially if you’ve never played it before.
After being lured by the rich Martian ore, miner Alec Mason arrives on Mars hungry for a new life. But the promise of a brighter future quickly fades as The Earth Defense Force, once protectors of Martian colonists, have adopted heavy-handed checkpoints. An underground resistance known as the Red Faction is swiftly gathering strength to combat the EDF and it is here where Mason’s (and your own) quest for a new life has become a battle for survival. In fact, the fate of the planet now rests with you and the Red Faction.
From there on out, it’s left to a whole world of destruction and Guerrilla really starts to shine. We’d be urging you to at least think about checking it out at its normal £14.99 price tag, so the chance to get hold of it with 85% off shouldn’t be turned down.
Grab – Pumped BMX+- 75% off – £2.00
Okay, I get ya. Pumped BMX+ isn’t the greatest game in the world. But for the next week it will cost you just £2. Yes, £2 for an Xbox One game.
Do I really need to sit here and explain why that opportunity shouldn’t be grasped with two hands? Nah, I didn’t think so, so just make your way over to the Xbox One Games Store, grab the game and enjoy it for what it is. Even if you find yourself getting frustrated with the challenges on offer, you only need to think back to that cheap, cheap price!
Leave – FIFA 17 – 35% off – £35.49-£38.49
It’s hard to believe that even with 35% off, the most recent FIFA title is still left around the £40 mark. It’s not a bad game at all, in fact, it’s still the best footy title you can buy, but I’m sat here again telling you to ignore it as the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale should be bringing us bargains. And a bargain FIFA 17 is not.
Throw in the obvious fact that any fan of the game would have already jumped on board with FIFA, then I just can’t see how the £35 ish that is being asked for both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 version is going to tempt anyone in. There’s better deals to be had, so give this a miss.
So that’s it for this week and the sales are indeed pretty poor. You should most definitely be taking on board what we are pointing out above though, if only because you’ll have to opportunity to grab a cheap game or two, whilst ignoring the rubbish. If you like the look of our purchasing choices then you should also be taking a visit to CDKeys and grabbing some of their super cheap Xbox Live credit too. It’s the smart thing to do!
As always, don’t forget to let us know what you are tempted by. If you want to check out the full deals for the week, then you can find the full Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale right here.
