Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold bargains should you pick up? – 22nd November 2016

Unless you’ve been hiding away from the world, you’ll know that Black Friday is upon us. That means there is a whole host of great bargains for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers to get hold of. But sitting quietly in the corner alongside the big brash Black Friday hype machine is this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale, delivering a good few further discounts to gamers. But which of this week’s Deals With Gold price cuts are worth your time? And which shouldn’t be touched with a barge pole? We take a look.

…and as expected, it’s a bit of a strange old week with a whole ton of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round content taking centre stage. The smart ones out there will ignore that completely though and should instead be focusing on the following…

GrabBeyond Eyes – 75% off – £2.50

If you need something to relax with, worrying not about shooting things or racing fast cars, then Beyond Eyes is it.

In fact, Beyond Eyes brings such a slow paced experience that many may well find it too slow to bear, but that is quite possibly its only real downfall. You see, if you can get your head around how unhurried the tale of Rae, a young blind girl is, then you’ll thoroughly enjoy your short time with it.

The visuals are beautiful, the audio is first class and the price, for this next week, is stupidly low. Go and buy it, enjoy it for what it is and then jump straight back into the usual madness that the likes of Battlefield and Forza bring!

GrabInstant Indie Collection Vol 1 and Vol 2 – 75% off  each- £4.40 and £5.00

instant indie 1

It’s not very often you can grab six Xbox One titles for less than a tenner, but with the discounts in place on the Curve Digital Instant Indie Collections, that is exactly what you can now do.

Whilst each brings you three pretty special indie titles for a low, low price, the smart ones out there will most definitely be tempted in to a purchase of both Collections, dropping less than £10 and gaining six games in the process. In fact, we’d be pretty happy with paying the individual asking prices of any of Stealth Inc 2, The Swapper, Thomas Was Alone, Nova-111, The Swindle or Pumped BMX+ as it is.

Which sees these Instant Indie Collections absolutely no-brainers. Get them whilst the price is hot!

TempterSonic & Knuckles – 50% off – £0.99

sonic

We’re seriously struggling to find anything that Xbox 360 gamers should be checking out this week, but if pushed, should at least see Sonic and Knuckles be worth a little thought. The price is right, and alongside the other 360 deals this time round, stands out as just about the only game to worry over.

99p is nothing – give it a chance!

LeaveRock ‘N Racing Off Road DX – 50% off – £3.20

rock n road pic 2

It promises skids, crashes and amazing jumps, but in reality Rock ‘N Racing Off Road DX on Xbox One brings nothing but tears.

If you’re looking for a game that will bring back memories of years gone by with an experience similar to Super Off Road or Super Sprint, then you couldn’t be further from the truth. The presentation is poor, the solo mode leaves you on the edge of utter boredom and the audio delivers nothing more than high pitched screeching to your ears.

It has to be said that the local multiplayer aspect is reasonably good fun – for 5 mins – but even at 50% off, Rock ‘N Racing Off Road DX should be ignored. Completely.

LeaveNASCAR Heat Evolution – 30% off – £27.99

nascar-1

We tried to get away with only putting one ‘racing’ title in the ‘Leave’ camp this week, but we just wouldn’t be able to live with ourselves if we hadn’t included NASCAR Heat Evolution.

Whilst we have to admit that if you’re after an arcade racer, then NASCAR should be thought about, the sheer number of negatives that the title brings should ensure you won’t think for too long.

Poor framerates, dodgy visuals and an audio system that has been grabbed from decades gone by, all combine to bring you a rather disappointing NASCAR experience. Multiplayer might be stable, but don’t go buying Heat Evolution on the back of that – chances are the online side of things will be utterly dead.

We also can’t deal with the price, even with a 30% discount in place, and that huge problem is just the icing on the frustrating cake.

So, we’ve tried our best to point you in the direction of the best bargains, but if truth be told, other than the awesome Indie Collections, it’s a bit of a struggle this week with the Black Friday sale holding claim to the best deals. If however you see something you like the look of, then make sure you head over and give CDKeys a visit, grabbing some of their super cheap Xbox Live credit whilst you’re there.

As always, don’t forget to let us know what you are tempted by. If you want to check out the full deals for the week, then you can find the full Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale right here.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
