Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold bargains should you pick up? – 26th September 2017

-

So the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale for 26th Sept – 2nd Oct 2017 is now with us, and it brings discounts aplenty to a number of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games. Should you be in the market for a new title, but can’t quite stretch the wallet enough to warrant a purchase of one of the brand new games, then the Deals With Gold sale is a bit of a saviour. But which of the numerous discounts in place this week are great… and which are absolutely terrible? We take a look at the finer details.

GrabHue – 70% off – £3.60

Every now and then a little game will arrive to wow the crowds. That is exactly what happened back in August of 2016 when Hue dropped on to the Xbox Games Store.

It delivered a brilliantly vibrant experience that utilised some amazing puzzle mechanics, and right now, at least for the next week, you can grab it for just £3.60. You really shouldn’t be turning that price down.

At least you shouldn’t be if you like unique platformers, clever puzzling opportunities or brilliant soundtracks. Because Hue brings all three of those in abundance. Go and grab it right now!

GrabGeometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved – 67% off – £4.62

I’m a massive fan of all things twin sticking and much of that love originated from my first ever hands on with the original Geometry Wars. It goes without saying therefore that I wholeheartedly recommend that all gamers play Geo Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved.

If you’re looking to be whisked into a world of chaos, then there is nothing better than firing up a fast paced, super smooth twin stick shooter like Geometry Wars – and Dimensions Evolved is most certainly that. With a lengthy solo campaign, and a multiplayer mode that will ensure you have something to keep falling back on, there is quite possibly no better twin sticker on the market.

For less than a fiver, you’d be crazy to not be interested.

TempterThe Flame in the Flood – 50% off – £8.00

I’d like to see The Flame in the Flood at a slightly cheaper price, with a bigger discount taking hold, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be playing this superb survival title asap.

Taking on the role of a young girl, it will be up to you to take yourself and your dog on an adventure – by both land and water. Hopping aboard a crude raft and heading on down a procedurally generated river, you’ll never know what is to come as you stop off and explore the many islands ahead. Some will treat you to gifts, whilst others will see you right for a little sleep. More still though will come with vicious wildlife ready to attack anything that moves.

But whatever awaits you on your adventure, you’ll need to remember just one thing – SURVIVE!

LeaveTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 – 67% off – £9.90

I could have added in any one of the numerous overpriced Deluxe versions of games in here – think Mass Effect Andromeda, CoD Black Ops 3, Need for Speed and more – but whenever Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 comes in as a discounted title, it must always be picked up on.

Mainly because the game is soooo bad.

So here I am, telling you to leave THPS5 well alone. Even with a 67% discount and a new improved £9.90 price tag, it’s best to keep away from the latest Tony Hawk’s title. You see, if you don’t then it will ruin any good memories you may have lurking at the back of your mind regarding the series as a whole. And when previous games have been so good, it would be a massive shame to allow Pro Skater 5 to ruin those enjoyable moments.

Even if you’re a skate fan, or just a gamer who has a tenner sitting around ready to be wasted, you should still keep well away from the Birdman this time round.

So there we have it – the best and worst of the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale titles for 26th Sept – 2nd Oct 2017.

Don’t forget, should you like the look of any of the above discounts, and fancy splashing a little cash in order to get yourself a new game, then make sure you visit CDKeys before hitting the purchase button, and pick up some of their cheap Xbox Live credit to ensure your money goes just that little bit further.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
