Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold bargains should you pick up? – 5th September 2017

-

For many it would have been payday a whole week ago and for the vast majority of those the old money situation will already be looking a bit dire. But the latest Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale is now here and it promises not just discounts for Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers to get involved in, but big discounts at that.

But in an age where money is scarce, chances are you won’t be able to afford to pick up everything that is on offer this week – which is where we come in as we take a look at the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale for 5th-11th September 2017 and let you know exactly which are the best and worst of the offers on the table.

Obviously before we start it must be said that the crazy pricing structure of APB Reloaded credits means you should be leaving those well alone. Get past those though and the following should be on your radar.

GrabTEMBO The Badass Elephant – Usually £9.99 now just £2.50

When you get bored of Mario, are tired of Sonic and just wish Crash would spin off into the distance, a whole new videogaming hero is needed. TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT!

SEGA and Game Freak teamed up a couple of years back to deliver a new hero, and a whole ton of 2D platforming fun, to the masses. What arrived was a game that, dodgy control system aside, was a great deal of fun.

Now, some two years on from its full release, you can head into the world of TEMBO the Badass Elephant for less than a pint of beer. With tons of replayability and some brilliantly designed, super colourful levels, if you haven’t yet witnessed the joy of taking charge of an elephant and rampaging though countless enemies, then now is the time.

The £2.50 price tag deserve your full attention.

GrabUnravel – Usually £14.99 now just £3.75

You wouldn’t usually find us putting an EA Access Vault title in one of these weekly posts, but when Unravel is available at such a dirt cheap price, it’s a bit hard to ignore.

Telling the tale of Yarny, it is up to you to help your new found friend travel through the scary world he finds himself in. With plenty of puzzles and tons of modern platforming action to enjoy, Unravel delivers a pretty damn good experience.

If you have EA Access, then you can ignore everything I’ve just typed, because heading to the Vault is the way to go, but otherwise the £3.75 price tag that Unravel is available at for this week is a hard one to leave.

TempterMirror’s Edge: Catalyst – Usually £24.99 now £6.25

Much like Unravel above, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst can also be picked up from the EA Access Vault for absolutely nothing. And that is why it is in here as a Tempter as opposed a game that you must Grab.

You see, whilst we can get by with the £3.75 price of Unravel, nearly double that for the latest Mirror’s Edge title is a bit trickier to sell, especially when the game can be grabbed for nothing. Yes, it’s a big discount, but this one will only appeal to those who haven’t gone all-in on the old EA Access front, because that is where the real smart money should be spent.

If you haven’t yet entered the wonderful world of the City of Glass, and fancy getting to know Faith a little more, then we’d advise spending the £20 per year that EA Access costs. If you can’t stretch that far, then go and get Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst right now for just £6.

LeaveValkyria Revolution – Usually £34.99 now £26.24

If truth be told, this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale is a pretty damn good one. With the games mentioned above highlighting how exciting a Deals With Gold sale should be, it must be said that there isn’t much on offer this week that we wouldn’t be happy recommending – except for those stupidly priced APB credits of course. But one game that stands head and shoulders above the rest, at least in terms of price, is Valkyria Revolution – and that is why it is down in the Leave section.

You see, Revolution ain’t have bad, at least if you can look past the boring cutscenes and repetitive gameplay, so if you’re in need of a new JRPG then it just about delivers the goods. But that price point ensures it can never be seen as a bargain and that is what we’re looking for here.

By all means grab it if you fancy giving it a shot – and our full review will kindly fill you in on the details – but if you can hold off for a cheaper price further down the line, then that is definitely the way to go.

If you want to trust us on this one and fancy picking up any of the games above then don’t forget to stop off at CDkeys , grab some of their super cheap Xbox Live credit and save even more cash. We’d love it if you could let us know which game (or games) you pick up by posting in the comments below too.
