Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale bargains should you pick up? – 16th May 2017

-

Those of you looking for a top bargain with this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale are in for quite a treat with the huge Xbox Backwards Compatibility sale that has been included. Which of those old 360 titles you wish to pick up is completely up to you because, on the face of it, they are all pretty much sitting in bargain territory.

However, if you’re looking for a native Xbox One game to get acquainted with, then stick with us as we take a look at the best and worst of the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale for 16th-22nd May 2017.

GrabOddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty – 67% off – £4.95

Platforming, quirkiness and some of the best fun you’ll have in a long time.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty places you into the rags of a slave working Mudokan called Abe, after finding out he and his fellow workers are set to become the latest meat product in Rupture Farms, the biggest meat processing plant on Oddworld, he decides to break free.

With deadly traps and some of the most engaging platforming action of recent years available, this rejuvenated classic is easily one of the true most own games for any real gamer.

For just under a fiver you could find yourself running through one of the best games to ever arrive on console – just watch out for the Slogs!

GrabSchrödinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark – 75% off – £1.80

It may not be quite as much of a cult classic as Abe’s otherworldly adventure, but that doesn’t mean Schrödinger’s Cat should be overlooked this week.

For less than the price of a coffee you could find yourself trying to contain the hungry leptons, the sticky-fingered gluons and the massive bosons that have overrun the Particle Zoo. With yet more wacky and colourful platforming, Schrödinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark is the perfect game for anyone looking for something cheap and cheerful this week.

It is certainly one you should be looking to add to that expanding game collection.

GrabPure Pool – 50% – £4.00

There may well be a wide selection of Pool and Snooker games available on Xbox One already, but when one comes with as much content as Pure Pool, and it has a crazy cheap price tag attached, then there’s no way we aren’t recommending it.

Pure Pool may be the best Pool game on the market too, with its ultra-realistic visuals, fluid and challenging gameplay and perfect difficulty curve, making for one of the most enjoyable and repayable titles out there. Sure it’s not going to grab everyone’s attention but for just four quid, Pure Pool is another of the week’s best steals.

LeaveHorse Racing 2016 – 40% – £6.23

Whilst this week has some cracking titles available it also has one of the worst games ever.

Horse Racing 2016 wasn’t a widely popular title when it released on Xbox One, and for good reason. From the horrible visuals, to the finger numbing button-mashing, the overbearing price and the repetitively boring races, nothing in Horse Racing 2016 came close to resembling the much-loved sport of the real world. When topped off with the fact you could pretty much whip the horses to death, Horse Racing 2016 quickly became seen as one of the worst games on Xbox One.

Whilst some might question a buy with the latest price cut, I for one wouldn’t recommend jumping into Horse Racing 2016 even if the price was dropped completely.

So, there we have it. The latest set of weekly deals and our opinions on what you should and shouldn’t be looking to add to your collection. It cannot be debated that the Backward Compatible sale is top quality, but has anything else taken your fancy? Let us know in the comments below or via our usual social channels.

Don’t forget to head on over to CDkeys before you buy, just in order to pick up some of that super cheap Xbox Live credit and help your spending go a little further this week. Just imagine how many BC games you can grab if you visit them first!
