Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale bargains should you pick up? – 18th April 2017

-

It’s been a busy week on the Xbox One. We’ve had the biggest sale of the year sweep across our store, bringing with it a plethora of great titles for even greater prices that will have many of us pushing that backlog even further into the year, as well as the arrival of the most requested title for the backwards compatibility program on the Xbox One in the form of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Of course, not all good things can last forever, but whilst the Xbox Spring Sale comes into the final hours for anyone looking for some last-minute shopping, the new weekly deals are here to soften the blow.

Here are our thoughts on what you should and shouldn’t be looking to spend any remaining cash on this week.

GrabVertical Drop Heroes HD – 33% off – £4.28

Procedurally generated platform madness, with a hint of RPG mechanics to bring forward the spice. That’s what you can expect to find in the first of this week’s picks, Vertical Drop Heroes HD, and you’d be wise to make good of that deal too for just under a fiver. Take your hero through multiple randomly generated stages, armed with a variety of skills and traits, whilst using the best of your cunning and reflexes to survive the dangers of each stage, until you arrive at the final boss and uncover the truth of your journey.

GrabThe Sun and Moon – 33% off – £3.75

Sometimes it doesn’t take action or beauty and indescribable detail to make a game enjoyable, and anyone who’s looking for the next game to put to the test during a quiet afternoon may well find the perfect companion in The Sun and Moon. This one is another platformer, but with some unique mechanics. Gravity is reversed, momentum is conserved and solving each puzzle will not be a simple walk in the park. Of course, that’s what any fan of platforming would be happy to hear and so for just under four pounds you could be that happy soul.

TempterElite Dangerous: Commander Deluxe Edition – 33% off – £26.79

Whilst many will refer to the previous title if I was to mention the action and indescribable detail that makes Elite Dangerous so beautiful, there’s no denying just how wondrous this game is.

Starting with just a small starship and a few credits, it is up to you to choose your path, and earn the skill and knowledge to survive in the cutthroat galaxy amongst the stars. Trade, fight, survive and discover, as you blaze your own trail of infinite freedom amongst 400 Billion Star Systems. With an unparalleled open-universe to explore, Elite Dangerous is more than deserving of your money this week, especially when that price comes with the Horizons Season Pass for extra immersion upon each planetary surface for that one great price.

LeaveAdam’s Venture: Origins – 50% off – £20.00

Unfortunately, we can’t recommend every game that comes with a reduced price to our readers and each week something has to make the cut; Adam’s Venture: Origins is that game.

Whilst it’s certainly not a terrible game, it’s hard to recommend a game that has you exploring ancient ruins and recovering mysterious artefacts without pointing you in the direction of the epic adventures of Lara Croft. Whilst I understand there will be many that will be happy for change, for me the adventure in Adam’s Venture simply doesn’t compare to the greatness of either of the last two Tomb Raider titles, and with a hefty price tag of twenty pounds for this one even after a huge discount, it’s the title this week that we think you’d be better off saving that hard-earned cash on.

Maybe next time Adam.

So, there we have it, another week of do’s and don’ts for those who didn’t flush out the wallet early on the Xbox Spring Sale. Will you be picking up anything in this week’s deals? Let us know in the comments below or via our usual social channels.

For those looking to grab one of this week’s offers, don’t forget to head on over to CDKeys for some super cheap Xbox Live credit to help that spending go a little further this week. And of course, you can check out the full Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale on this here link.
