Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale bargains should you pick up? – 20th June 2017

-

Hot on the heels of E3 2017, and you may have been forgiven for thinking that the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale would be taking it easy for another week or so. You couldn’t be further from the truth though as not only does this week’s Deals With Gold sale bring a decent amount of discounted Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles, but the discounts themselves are fairly extensive.

But with such a huge amount of bargains available, chances are you won’t have the required funds available to purchase everything and anything. Which is where we come in, as we take a look at the best and worst discounts available in the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale for 20th-26th June 2017.

GrabAQUA KITTY UDX Xbox One Edition – £1.92

If you were to ask me if purchasing AQUA KITTY UDX Xbox One Edition was a good idea then I wouldn’t hesitate in shouting YES in your face. As loud as possible.

You see, I love AQUA KITTY UDX. I love the Defender style memories it brings. I love the visuals. I love the gameplay. I love pretty much everything about it. Except for the fact that it doesn’t come complete with any online multiplayer options. But the rest of the game is so damn good that I’m willing to let TIKIPOD off on that one.

But what is AQUA KITTY? Well, simply put, it’s a Defender clone. With cats. Under the sea. Seriously, what is there not to like about that?

Just go and buy it right now. The £1.92 price tag absolutely demands it.

GrabVertical Drop Heroes HD – £2.11

Chances are you would have heard of Vertical Drop Heroes. After all, it took the world by storm when it originally arrived as a quick web-based time waster.

But now the Heroes are available in full HD, with a proper bit of rogue-like randomly generated gameplay behind them. And you know what? It’s really rather good.

Vertical Drop Heroes HD comes with some great visuals, plenty of clever abilities and a whole ton of replayability – so much so in fact that you’ll find yourself dropping into the Vertical Drop world time and time again. It would have been lovely to see some online multiplayer options in place, and it does suffer a little for that, but as a solo experience that is going to cost you just a few pennies over £2, it is well worth a look.

Just don’t expect to be able to put it down again in a hurry.

GrabSuper Party Sports: Football – £1.32

It may well shock many seeing Super Party Sports: Football included in this list, but if you’re after some good mindless fun, and can’t be bothered with the hassle of aggression, then this is the game for you… especially at just £1.32.

Yes it’s quite obviously a direct port from the mobile scene, and yep, it does indeed come with a pretty dodgy control system, but for cheap, for cheerful and for a good bit of time wasting, you can’t go wrong with this fun little football themed puzzler.

You won’t be blown away by anything Handy Games have delivered, but similarly, you won’t be offended by what they are bringing to the market.

TempterOddworld New N Tasty – £4.50

The old classics are always worth a punt and that is never more true than when we look at the awesome Oddworld games.

With New N Tasty springing up on Xbox One a couple of years back, the newer Xbox community got the opportunity to take in one of the greatest adventures in recent video gaming history.

Without a shadow of doubt, Abe is a delightful character and the world he is trying to escape from is an intriguing one. Full of puzzle and mystery – with a smattering of explosive fun thrown in – if you haven’t yet played New N Tasty, or have never played an Oddworld title before, then this is a great place to start.

We’d like to see things a little cheaper, especially this week when Abe is up against a ton of super cheap titles, but £4.50 is still a damn great price for a damn great game.

LeaveFarming Simulator 17 Premium Edition – £35.99

In a week of sales that is dominated by the cheap and cheerful, Farming Simulator 17 stands out like a sore thumb. To be honest, it would stand out like a sore thumb most weeks anyways, but with a £35.99 price tag in amongst the multitude of games which can be grabbed for just a quid or two, it is even more prominent than usual.

It’s also not a particularly good game, delivering terrible driving mechanics, awkward controls and long loading times. Granted, if you are entwined in the farming life, then we guess there isn’t much else for you to enjoy, but at least price there must be something better to spend your cash on. Like a bag of manure perhaps?

So, another week of Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale bargains and our thoughts on just what you should and shouldn’t be adding to your collection. It must be said, this week is definitely over run with great little bargains, and should you be in the market for a new indie game, then the vast majority of what is on offer is probably worth checking out – if only because of the downright cheapness that the sale is delivering.

As always though, let us know what you think of our choices by posting in the comments below or via our usual social channels. Don’t forget to head on over to CDkeys for some super cheap Xbox Live Credit to help spread the cash a little further too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
