It’s time to turn off the lights, hunker down with a controller, and head to the outskirts of London – all in order to take in the destruction of the latest psychological horror game to arrive on Xbox One. Welcome to Hanwell.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, after previously releasing on PS4 and PC, Welcome to Hanwell brings some of the most freaky psychological horror elements you could ever imagine. Set in the outskirts of London – in Hanwell, no less – you’ll discover that you have stumbled upon a part of town that is in trouble.

Expect to be subjected to unexplained sounds, a flicker in the corner of your eye, shadows that seem more menacing than normal, and monsters roaming the streets. But whereas you may be tempted to run, Welcome to Hanwell will let you instigate a fight should you so wish – leaving you to batter the demons with whatever you can get your hands on.

A variety of locations will play host to your time in Welcome to Hanwell, and each will bring something a little different to the table, sending out unique tales and narratives to your mind as you carefully tread the streets.

Features include:

  • Open World Horror – Explore a diverse city on the outskirts of London.
  • Dive Deep – Discover Hanwell’s secrets and those of its inhabitents in Hanwell’s many interior locations to explore.
  • Fight Back – Grab what you can and take down an Anomaly or just run and don’t look back.
  • Experience Mystery – Chase the ever enigmatic Doctor and piece together his actions leading up to the fall of The Council

We’ll have a full review coming your way in the days ahead but for now should you be interested in this horror experience and reckon taking a trip to Hanwell is something your heart and mind can cope with, then the Xbox Store will sort you out with an Xbox One download. That price of £12.49 is pretty tempting too.

Game Description:

Hanwell, once a safe haven from the horrors of the world, now a cesspit of anomalous scum. Explore a dense open world of terror, every building a unique location with its own story to tell. Strung together by the remnants of Hanwell. There is something deeply unsettling about Hanwell. Unexplained noises, something in the corner of your eye or laying just beyond the shadows create an atmosphere that will keep you constantly on edge. Monsters roam the streets. They occasionally get into the once protected buildings. What you do with them is up to you, be resourceful and pick up whatever you can find in order to fight them. Or run. And don’t look back. There is an entire city to explore, featuring different environments each more distinct than the last. From residential homes, old English pubs, parks, stores, supermarkets and government buildings, all the way to the infamous HCPP research center. Each location holds its own backstory, leading to your arrival. Jump in, turn out the lights and discover the terrifying world of Hanwell.
