The new year is now running at full steam ahead and everything is back to normal, but as always in the gaming world things can take a little while to get back to the levels of excitement that were brought our way towards the end of the year. January isn’t the same anymore though, and whilst the first of the year’s big releases start dropping in just a few short weeks, finding something to keep yourself occupied till then can often be harder than you think.
That’s where the latest Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale comes in, and with the latest batch of offers running between the 10th-16th Jan 2017, let’s take a look to see what’s worth picking up – and completely ignoring – as we attempt to bridge the gap to the new releases coming our way.
Grab – Saints Row IV: Re-Elected – 75% Off – £4.00
Saints Row, with its tongue in cheek humour and wacky, outrageous characters, may not be for everyone, but those who have spent any decent amount of time on the streets of Steelport will tell you that Saints Row IV is a game that is deserving of some attention at this price.
Saints Row IV: Re-Elected comes bundled with all previously released DLC too, so whilst the original may well have been given away on Games With Gold a little while ago, this is by far the best way to experience the presidential role taken on by the leader of the 3rd Street Saints. With vast amounts of content included as well as all the usual lovely upgrades a remaster brings to the table, we see no reason why you wouldn’t want to pick this up.
Grab – Mantis Burn Racing – 33% Off – £8.03
Whilst Mantis Burn Racing may have released with a few bugs under the hood, there’s no hiding just how much fun is to be had with this game. With a career that will keep you coming back for more, through its multitude of events across many seasons of racing, this is easily one of 2016’s best indie titles.
An upgrade system that brings the need to ensure perfection in each race is great, making this one title that will keep you tied over for the coming months and later into the year – Go check it out!
Grab – Binaries – 50% Off – £4.00
Puzzle games are possibly one of the most catered for genres on the Xbox One right now, but it doesn’t mean they’re all the same. Binaries is certainly one of the many available that is worth your time.
You take control of a ball, nothing more, with the simple task of guiding your way to the end of each level, avoiding all the different dangers along the way such as spikes and awkwardly placed objects – but doing so is no easy task. With mind benders aplenty on the Xbox One, it’s easy to cast your eyes away at the thought of another but Binaries is one that you should definitely set time aside for.
For the small sum of four quid, you could do much worse with your afternoon tea and biscuits.
Leave – Earthlock: Festival of Magic – 33% Off – £16.07
Unless you’ve only arrived on Xbox One in the last week or so then this one is a bit of a no brainer really. Sixteen quid for Earthlock: Festival of Magic is a fair bit of money for a game on sale unless it’s those hugely priced triple-A beasts, but for a game that was given to us just a few months ago with the Games With Gold feature it’s a ludicrous ask.
By now those who have wanted this title will surely have it in their library already and those that didn’t pick it up…well, it’s not like it’s going to be any better because you paid for it instead. We reckon leave this one and put your money towards some top titles, like those mentioned above.
