Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold bargains should you pick up? – 22nd-28th May 2018

-

If there is one constant in life, it is that the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale will deliver brand new discounts to all Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers each and every week. So guess what? Yep, the sale is back once more and between the 22nd-28th May 2018 there are a whole ton of Xbox titles being smacked with big discounts. But which are the best of the bargains on offer, and which are the ones you should never touch? We take a look.

Grab – Pac-man 256 – £1.00 – 75% off

A pound? A quid? Is that all that is being asked for Pac-man 256 on Xbox One?

Well yes it is and that is a bargain in anyone’s eyes.

You may well have played the 256 variant of Pac on mobile, but it is well worth heading in for some endless leaderboard chasing once more with the Xbox One version – especially now that it is coming in at a silly price.

With plenty of challenge, a local co-op mode and enough PAC-DOTS to keep you waka waka-ing for eternity, Pac-man 256 is quite possibly one of the greatest Pac adventures ever.

Did I mention that it is a solitary pound?

Grab – Digerati Pixel Art Bundle Part 1

Game bundles have come into their own in the last few years, allowing gamers the chance to pick up multiple titles whilst saving a bit of cash. And when we see those bundles hit the Xbox Live Deals With Gold Sale, those savings get bigger still.

That is the case here with the Digerati Pixel Art Bundle Pack 1, which delivers a collection of four games for just £8.05.

Should you have not yet got involved in the likes of Uncanny Valley, BLEED, DreamBreak or Slain: Back from Hell, then this is your best opportunity yet, allowing a massive saving over the usual £40+ price tag.

Yes, these are going to be games that appeal to everyone, but if you’re after something a little different, then the Pixel Art Bundle Part 1 more than delivers the goods.

Tempter – Bastion – £6 – 50% off

Bastion has been around for many a year, but even now it still holds up well against more modern games.

A role-player that turned the narrative based story experiences on its head when it first released on Xbox 360 is well worth checking out now that it is on Xbox One. Granted, those who have already played through things may struggle to gather much enthusiasm, but for everyone else, that £6 and 50% off is very, very tempting.

In fact, the only thing that is going against it is the fact that those who had previously purchase it on Xbox 360, would have had free access to the game on XO.

Leave – Horse Racing 2016 – £1.20 – 85% off

I was sorely tempted to drop the utter garbage that is Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 in here, but I’m on a bit of a mission to ensure that the entire world knows not to ever purchase a copy of Horse Racing 2016 instead – even at the super low price of £1.20.

In fact, Horse Racing 2016 is so bad, I’d even urge you to not bother downloading the game if it was totally free. If you don’t believe me, make sure you hit up our review and read about why this game doesn’t just look awful, but plays awful, as we wonder how on earth it ever made its way to the Microsoft Store.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a title that trumps it in the rubbish stakes. Even with a massive 85% taken off the list price.

If you are in need of a new game, then you could do a lot worse than hit up those grabbers and tempters, especially at the prices they are currently at. Just do us a favour and make sure you leave that damn Horse Racing game in the bin, yeah?

Don’t forget that if you wish to save a bit more money in the process, then CDKeys have some great cheap Xbox Live Credit up for grabs.

For a look at all the discounted Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles, bundles and DLC available via the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale for 22nd-28th May 2018, then check out the entire list right here. Let us know what you grab in the comments below!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
