So far, 2K have revealed a load of information about Universe, Showcase, Originals, and various online aspects, but now the focus has switched to arguably the most important game mode in WWE 2K20 – MyCAREER.
It’s clear that in WWE 2K20, for the first time ever, players can take on the role of a male and a female character simultaneously in a narrative-driven storyline. MyCAREER introduces two lifelong best friends, Red and Tre, who want to fulfil all of their dreams together in WWE. In a strange twist, the 20-hour experience actually begins on the day of Red and Tre’s WWE Hall of Fame induction. They’ll reminisce days gone by with WWE Superstars and tell stories during their speech, leading to flashbacks; remembering the high school years, first matches, struggles to work their way up on the indies, breaking into NXT, and finally the journey to the top of WWE as they attempt to achieve Hall of Fame-worthy careers.
Their career progress is tracked with “The List”, which was created when Red and Tre were teenagers in order to write down all the goals they’d like to someday achieve. You’ll get to play out storylines and matches as each character, occasionally teaming together thanks to the all-new Mixed Tag match feature. Throughout the roughly 100 matches found in MyCAREER, there’ll be performances from over 40 WWE Superstars, NXT Superstars and absolute legends, as well as over 15 original voiced roles. Prepare to interact with newly-voiced Superstars such as Ronda Rousey, The New Day, Becky Lynch, Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, The IIconics, Samoa Joe and others.
During MyCAREER, you will come across some strange occurrences too, with Red and Tre crossing through an interdimensional portal at one point to try and find the Undertaker, who hasn’t been seen in years. Along the way to the coveted Hall of Fame induction, decisions can be made that may affect the matches these two compete in and could lead to alternate outcomes. Also, the MyCAREER boasts a number of unlockables to earn, such as WWE Legends, Career specific Superstar attires, original characters and unique environments like “Hell’s Colosseum”.
It’s all getting quite exciting as the launch date for WWE 2K20 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC gets ever-closer, but we’ll have to wait until 22nd October to venture into this latest MyCAREER offering!
