Zen Studios help bring Disco Dodgeball Remix to Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch

-

If you think of Zen Studios, then you’ll immediately think of pinball. Well, remove that thought straight from your brain as today Zen are here with a whole new initiative, helping the PC hit Disco Dodgeball make its way to console. It won’t be long before it arrives either.

In fact, due to drop on to Xbox One, PS4 and Switch come 22nd May 2018 will be Disco Dodgeball Remix, as Zen Studios team up with Erik Asmussen of 82 Apps to bring a ridiculous mix of Dodgeball and FPS to our lives.

With Zen’s new initiative of helping push the best PC indie titles to as many gamers as possible, it will surely only see the hype around Disco Dodgeball increase.

If you haven’t heard of it, then Disco Dodgeball Remix is an awesome physics-based sport-type-thing, that mixes arena-based first-person shooting with classic dodgeball – all whilst being played by killer robots. Obviously.

Should you wish to get involved, then combatants will find themselves throwing glowing dodgeballs to one-hit-kill their opponents and complete team objectives, using a wide variety of powerups and trick shots, with a skateboard-style movement and pulsing dance club aesthetic holding everything together.

“Most fans of Zen Studios were attracted to us through our Pinball FX series, so we like to think we know a thing or two about awesome gameplay centered around physics-based spherical objects—and trust me, Disco Dodgeball Remix absolutely delivers there and then some,” says Mel Kirk, Zen Studios’ VP, Publishing. “Our developers can’t get enough of the PC original, and we’re excited to bring Disco Dodgeball Remix to consoles, where we expect its popularity to absolutely explode. It still blows my mind that one talented developer created this whole thing.”

“I’m a solo developer, so porting to consoles was just a pipe dream for a long time—but partnering with the amazing group at Zen Studios has been a great decision to help make this a reality,” says Erik Asmussen, who developed Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball (the game’s PC title) all by himself. “Their publishing team been doing great work on the project, and I can’t wait to get my game into the hands of more players.”

There will be more PC releases announced by Zen in the months ahead, but for now all we need to worry about is that Disco Dodgeball Remix will be hitting our consoles soon. Keep an eye out for it on May 22nd.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
