3 Innovative gaming trends in 2018

-

Nowadays the gaming experience is constantly evolving because new technology innovations are appearing on a monthly basis and with this development many new gaming trends continue to appear. This is how new ideas are born because it is absolutely necessary to maintain a steady pace with evolution. The gaming industry has so many talented developers and the client base demands new and interactive games.

The Battle Royale phenomenon

We are now looking at a huge gaming phenomenon because this gaming trend is teaching a lot of high end game developers how something simple and done right can be the most addictive activity in your house. At the wheel of this historic evolution sits Fortnite and everyone wants a piece of it. Developed by Epic Games Fortnite, it was released for last year and since then it has single handedly managed to turn the gaming world upside down with this innovative game play where everyone jumps in without nothing and builds everything along the way, to back this statement up we have player base of over 140 million. This is literally the Holy Grail of 2018 gaming.

So far it has managed to dominate the E3 and many big game developers have already said that they are going to introduce this mod into their games and for starters we have the Call of Duty series, it is highly possible that we will see a BR mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and so is Battlefield V.

You cannot deny that this is the most significant video game trend of 2018, but to say it is the only one would be shortsighted, as others continue to rock the industry.

The Extinction of Loot Boxes

Some players feel very happy about this trend and others feel very disappointed about it, but one thing is clear the extinction of loot boxes has managed to bring true blood gamers back on the right track. Many voices often said that the concept of ingame loot boxes is cheating with your credit card. The volcano erupted with the huge conflict surrounding EA’s Star Wars Battlefront 2, the game was virtually impossible to enjoy without purchasing loot boxes so the fans started rioting and in such disputes the fan base always wins. For example, Fortnite knows all too well how to handle this predicament and by simply selling only character models and other cosmetic features they do not offer and advantage to player or cripple its evolution in the game, and to back this statement up Epic Games has made over 14 million USD with this clean strategy.

Many government official bodies have gone so far as to say that loot boxes are a form of unlicensed gambling therefore the legal measures taken are completely banning the game from the market which makes the game developer ask twice whether it needs its precious loot boxes.

VR devices versus AR devices

We have witnessed a rise and fall of the Virtual Reality games and with this being said it is more than clear that once again this resurrection is having serious issues. Not until recently almost everyone believed that the VR technology is going to take gaming to a whole new level, but so far gamers have almost got sick and tired of the unending issues that they are having with their VR headsets which are either insanely expensive or very weak in generating the immersion that you want to experience. Another huge problem with the VR headsets is the motion sickness which can be very frustrating if you happen to like the game but impossible to play it for more than two hours.

On the other side of the coin the AR gaming is beginning to become more and more promising and way more accessible too than VR. AR tech is also a very expensive device, but its functionality is amazing, there are many free augmented reality apps which are free of charge and best thing about it is that you can use all this technology with the help of your smartphone which to this point of age almost everybody has one.

So here you have it, these are the biggest gaming trends of 2018 so far and we hope that they will continue to evolve along with the gaming industry itself.

To sum this up it looks like the BR (battle royale) gaming style has its very own, well earned, seat at the table and it seems that no one will be able to change this any time soon because the player base is the one that dictates all gaming trends not the gaming developers.
