5 new expansion packs arrive in LEGO Dimensions

-

LEGO Dimensions may not have been the ‘out of the park hit’ that the guys over at Warner Bros had expected, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still plenty of love coming in for the multi-dimensional LEGO title.

Today sees the announcement of another batch of fresh content that’s due to arrive for LEGO Dimensions on Friday 15th September. The new highly collectible expansion packs set to arrive in the LEGO world include Team and Fun Packs based on Cartoon Network’s animated TV series Teen Titans Go and The Powerpuff Girls, plus a Beetlejuice Fun Pack. The new packs are set to broaden the selection of an already high number of popular entertainment brands when they arrive later this week, with players able to mix and match their favourite characters and universes with full compatibility.

Players that purchase either of the Teen Titans Go expansion packs will have access to an exclusive original animated episode, that uncovers just how the vibrant team of teenage superheroes stumbled across the LEGO Dimensions multiverse. Both packs will also include a transformation of Cyborg from the DC Comics Fun Pack, and Robin, from the LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack into their Teen Titans Go variants within the Teen Titans Go Adventure World.

That said there are differing items with both packs for players to keep an eye out for, with the Teen Titan Go Team Pack offering up LEGO minifigures of the DC Super Hero Team Raven and Beast Boy. Both chracters also come complete with their own unique moves such as Raven’s ability to transform into her miniature Soul Self as well as her telekinetic abilities amongst others, and Beast Boys ability to transform into different creatures to access new areas. The pack also features the 3-in-1 T-Car which can be rebuilt into a Forklift and T-Plane for otherworldy adventures by air and sea.

As for the Teen Titans Go Fun Pack, players will find the included Starfire LEGO minifigure complete with her powerful green energy blast to put a stop to the bad guys once and for all. With the ability to interact with LEGO Rainbow bricks to regain health mid-battle, putting Starfire down will be a terribly difficult task for any enemy. Also found in the Fun Pack is the 3-in-1 Titan Robot for a roller-coaster fun-filled adventure. The Titan Robot can also be transformed into the T-Rocket and Robot Retriever for further adventures. Any of the characters found within the Teen Titan Go packs enable access to Jump City where players can go on missions and explore psychedelic areas from the Titans Tower to the Wacka Doodles Amusement Park.

The Powerpuff Girls also come to life with either the Team Pack or the Fun Pack with a ton of new content available for the Cartoon Network’s faithful all girls group. Picking up The Powerpuff Girls Team Pack will enable players the chance to head into the wondrous Townsville, with included LEGO minifigures of the super-powered sisters Blossom and Bubbles. Players will gain full access to powers like Blossom’s Heat Vision and Bubble’s Rainbow Beam in order to fight crime and battle the forces of evil. Extra abilities are also on offer with the 3-in-1 Octi which can also be rebuilt into the Super Skunk or Sonic Squid as well as the PPG Smartphone which offers several new forms.

The Powerpuff Girls Fun Pack on the other hand comes with Buttercup as a LEGO minifigure, with the cherished champion of justice coming complete with supercool superpowers like Energy Shield and Flight. This Fun Pack also contains the 3-in-1 Mega Blast Bot which can be rebuilt into the Ka-Pow Cannon and the Slammin’ Guitar to rock awesome combat abilities.

Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup all unlock access to The Powerpuff Girls Adventure World, with unique locations such as Pokey Oaks elementary, Rainbow Land and Professor Utonium’s lab.

Finally comes The Beetlejuice Fun Pack which brings a level of Spookiness to LEGO Dimensions with the Beetlejuice LEGO minifigure. With skills such as Mind Control, Telekinesis and Spike Attack. Players with The Beetlejuice Fun Pack also gain access to Saturn’s Sandworm, which can be rebuilt into the Haunted Vacuum and the Spooky Spider for extra ghostly powers. Beetlejuice also unlocks a new Adventure World and Battle Arena.

All of the new expansion packs are available to players on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and the Wii U.

I’ve collected pretty much all of the extra team, fun and level packs for Lego Dimension since it came out and they’ve been terrific. However that’s not an adjective that springs to mind after reading this news. Looks like I may well not bother with any of these as it seems to me they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for inspiration and franchises to include now. Shame.
