The Fissure Review

0

More Waking Dream than Horror Movie, with a Soundtrack That Will Make you Murderous

I played The Fissure, a horror visual novel from SMV Games and Eastasiasoft, while extremely tired, waiting for the England vs Mexico World Cup match to start. Wow, was that a mistake. The Fissure likes to punch holes in reality, moving through states of being and different time periods. It’s more like a dream than a horror movie, and I was pretty close to sleeping myself. I found myself in a tired and confused state, wondering what on earth was going on.

Luckily, The Fissure was a game that I could – and should – play twice, finding the good ending among the bad ones, so I experienced it the next day, without a late-night football game to mess with my attention span. Although, I do think I enjoyed it more the first time, when it felt like a waking dream.

The Fissure character from Chapter 7
Don’t play this one while tired

From Azteca to San Adraín

The Fissure is the story of Nahuel, who is visiting his late mother’s hometown of San Adraín. His assumption is that he’s never been there before, but of course we know what assuming does to someone. I’ve also watched enough horror movies to know that you should never return to the house where you or your parents grew up. There’s always a skeleton, metaphorical or otherwise, waiting to jump out of a closet.

Nahuel finds the house, after an encounter with some suitably dodgy neighbours, and explores its woodchip-smelling rooms. What happens next is liable to be spoiled if we’re not careful, but it involves lots of jumpscares, PT-style moments where rooms change even though Nahuel has recently been in them, and ghostly scribbles everywhere. In terms of movie or game parallels, it feels somewhere in the middle of a Silent Hill, Sinister and The Ring triangulation.

All of this is told through the medium of a visual novel, with seven or eight choices littered across the experience. The choices do matter: there are a few endings to experience, and the branching takes you to different locations and events so the divergence is significant.

Making the Most of a Limited Palette

Presentation-wise, The Fissure is pretty decent. The art is murky and brown, but no less painterly and well made. I wish there was an AI flag on Xbox games, as I am not wholly convinced that generative AI wasn’t used (some characters repeat in the game, but look oddly different in each instance, which is often an AI hallmark). It might not matter to you regardless. There are some memorable scenes, like a staircase made from sinew.

The Fissure hand
Ready for a jumpscare?

I have a deep-seated dislike for the audio, though. There is a rising discordant sound that builds and builds as you play each scene. It’s meant to make you feel uncomfortable as you play, and uncomfortable is exactly what I felt. As you near the jumpscare or horror moment, it gets incredibly loud, to the point of distraction, and I found myself skipping through dialogue and text in the hope that it would stop. Which is probably not the effect you want on your reader. It grew to the point where I muted the audio, and that’s only going to dampen a horror game.

Writing-wise, The Fissure is a little patchy. It’s clearly translated from another language, and there are the odd snatches of prose that don’t quite flow. If you are vulnerable to a bit of clunk in your visual novels, then you might want to keep that in mind with The Fissure.

A Bit Like Watching The Ring on Shuffle

In terms of the story, I’m on the fence with The Fissure. On one side of the fence, the experience is clearly effective. As I wandered the upstairs, downstairs and outsides of the house, I genuinely felt like anything could happen, and the knot of tension grew in my chest. I really liked the choices, which were mostly foreshadowed in previous dialogue. If you pay attention, and read the warnings that you are given by ghostly figures, then you can often anticipate the choices and make the correct one.

On the other side of that fence, I grew a little impatient with how unstructured the story is. At its worst, it can feel like a jumble of experiences that could have been sellotaped together in any order. Poor Nahuel keeps getting teleported to different realities and locations, bewildered and unsure of where he is, and that feeling was contagious. The Fissure is a little too much like a ghost train rather than novella, where the sensation matters more than the narrative. And I wanted more narrative to go with my jumpscares.

That becomes most clear when the events get repetitive. There are multiple tomes with spectral scribbles in, and several keys for previously locked doors. The intention was probably to make the experience cyclical or fractal in some form, but I couldn’t help finding it a little wearing. Perhaps I was just tired from the footie.

The Fissure chapter 1
A short story that is far from epic

More of a Short Story Than a Horror Epic

Ultimately, though, The Fissure isn’t a long experience, so any infuriations are quickly wrapped up. I played The Fissure from back to front in roughly forty-five minutes, and slightly less than that on the second playthrough.

If The Fissure is a visual-novel ghost train, then it’s an uneven but still effective one. I don’t think I will remember much about it in a week’s time – most of the highlights, like a well in a forest, are borrowed from other sources – but that doesn’t stop it being occasionally effective. There’s an uneasy, building tension throughout The Fissure, and while it doesn’t pay off particularly, there are still some bumps in the night.

Welcome to Kowloon’s Claustrophobic Psychological Horror Hits Xbox and PlayStation

Welcome to Kowloon Keyart
Welcome to Kowloon – scaring Xbox and PlayStation players

Finding somewhere affordable to live can be stressful at the best of times. Welcome to Kowloon takes that familiar worry and twists it into something far more sinister, as the acclaimed indie horror experience arrives on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 after earning Very Positive user reviews on Steam.

Built as a short but memorable psychological horror adventure, this first-person tale trades jump-scare overload for creeping unease, inviting players to lose themselves in a maze of cramped apartments, shadowy alleyways, and residents who seem just a little too strange.

At a Glance

  • Game: Welcome to Kowloon
  • Developer: a1esska, Notex, N4bA, Admia
  • Publisher: Axyos Games
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 (previously released on PC via Steam)
  • Price: £8.39
  • Genre: First-person Psychological Horror

A Housing Search That Quickly Turns Into a Nightmare

The setup couldn’t be more ordinary. You’re searching for somewhere cheap to live and arrive in Kowloon hoping to find exactly that. It doesn’t take long before the cracks begin to show.

The streets feel too narrow. The apartments feel too small. The people you meet appear welcoming enough, but there’s an unsettling feeling that everyone knows something they’re refusing to share.

Rather than relying on combat or action sequences, Welcome to Kowloon builds its horror through atmosphere. Every corridor encourages you to keep moving while simultaneously making you wonder whether you really should.

Explore, Observe, Survive

This is very much an exploration-driven experience. Players investigate apartments, wander concrete passageways and slowly piece together clues that reveal the truth hiding beneath the surface.

Strong environmental storytelling is paired with immersive 3D audio to keep the tension high throughout, creating a horror experience that’s designed to get under your skin without needing constant shocks.

Rather than stretching the mystery over dozens of hours, Welcome to Kowloon is built as a focused, story-led experience that can be completed in a single sitting – perfect for horror fans looking for one memorable evening of suspense.

From Steam Favourite to Console Frights

Having already earned a Very Positive reception from PC players on Steam, the move to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 opens the door for a new audience to discover this unsettling indie horror.

Inspired by the famously dense architecture and atmosphere associated with Kowloon, the game leans heavily into psychological discomfort instead of spectacle, using confined spaces, subtle environmental details and mysterious encounters to keep players constantly on edge.

If you’re after a horror game that favours mood over monsters and slow-burning suspense over explosive action, this one could be well worth adding to your wishlist.

Welcome to Kowloon is available today via the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox Series X|S. It’s not on Game Pass at launch, but you will also find it on PlayStation 5, following its earlier release on PC via Steam.

Palworld Grows Up – The Survival Phenomenon Officially Launches

Palworld – on Game Pass, Xbox, PlayStation and PC

There was a point where it felt impossible to scroll through social media without seeing Palworld mentioned. Whether it was the now-famous “Pokémon with guns” comparisons, outrageous Pal-powered factories or stories of players disappearing into its world for hundreds of hours, Pocketpair’s survival hit quickly became one of gaming’s biggest success stories.

Now, after a hugely successful spell in Early Access, Palworld has officially reached full release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, remaining available day one through Game Pass.

If you’ve somehow managed to avoid it until now, there’s never been a better time to discover what all the fuss has been about.

At a Glance

  • Game: Palworld
  • Developer: Pocketpair
  • Publisher: Pocketpair
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Play Anywhere
  • Game Pass: Yes – Ultimate, Premium and PC tiers
  • Price: £24.99 (or included with Game Pass)
  • Genre: Open-world Survival, Crafting, Creature Collection

More Than “Pokémon With Guns”

The nickname might have helped Palworld explode into the spotlight, but it never really told the full story.

Yes, you’ll collect dozens of creatures known as Pals, but before long you’re building sprawling settlements, exploring huge landscapes, crafting increasingly powerful equipment and creating automated production lines powered almost entirely by your workforce of loyal (or perhaps unwilling) companions.

It’s this combination of survival, base building, exploration and creature collecting that helped Palworld carve out its own identity during its Early Access period.

Back when we first jumped into the Game Preview version, we came away impressed by just how much there already was to do. As we said at the time: “There is so much to do in Palworld that the ‘Pokemon with guns’ epithet doesn’t do it any favours… Give it a try if you want something a bit different – just be ready for Palworld to really sink its claws into you.

With the full release now here, that feeling only rings truer.

Build, Explore and Let Your Pals Do the Heavy Lifting

Survival remains at the heart of the experience, but it’s how your Pals fit into every system that makes Palworld stand apart.

They’ll fight alongside you against dangerous enemies, help explore land, sea and sky as mounts, work on your farms, harvest resources, generate electricity, mine valuable materials and keep your production lines running while you’re off adventuring elsewhere.

You’ll also breed stronger Pals, uncover increasingly rare species, tackle dangerous dungeons and slowly transform a humble camp into an industrial powerhouse.

Whether you prefer playing solo or alongside friends, there’s plenty of flexibility too, with four-player online co-op supported alongside dedicated servers capable of hosting up to 32 players.

Years of Updates Lead to Version 1.0

Launching into Early Access gave Pocketpair the opportunity to continually expand Palworld based on community feedback, adding new Pals, regions, mechanics, quality-of-life improvements and fresh content over the past couple of years. The move to a full release represents the biggest milestone yet, delivering the complete version of one of the most talked-about survival games of recent years.

If you’re starting fresh, it’s also worth checking out our 6 Things I Wish I’d Known When I Started Playing Palworld guide, packed with useful advice that’ll save newcomers from making some very avoidable mistakes during those crucial opening hours.

A Perfect Time to Jump In

The fact that Palworld remains available through Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and PC makes this an easy recommendation for subscribers. If you’ve been waiting for the game to leave Early Access before diving in, that wait is finally over. And that means our full review of how this one plays will be on the way soon.

For everyone else, the £24.99 asking price (from the Xbox Store) still represents a substantial amount of content, especially if you enjoy survival games that reward creativity, exploration and experimentation.

With years of development behind it and a passionate community already established, Palworld finally feels ready to move beyond being gaming’s biggest Early Access success story and become one of the genre’s defining releases.

Echoes of Aincrad Invites Players To Risk Reality

Echoes Of Aincrad keyart
Echoes Of Aincrad – out now on Xbox, PlayStation, PC

For fans of Sword Art Online, the floating fortress of Aincrad has always represented one of anime’s most iconic settings. Now, Echoes of Aincrad throws players directly into that deadly world, but this time you’re not simply following Kirito’s story – you’re writing your own.

Launching today on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, Bandai Namco’s latest action RPG blends fast-paced combat, deep character customisation and the constant threat that every battle could be your last.

We highlighted Echoes of Aincrad as one of our most anticipated games of July, and now it’s finally here.

At A Glance

  • Game: Echoes of Aincrad
  • Developer: Game Studio Inc.
  • Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC
  • Price: Standard Edition – £54.99 | Deluxe Edition – £74.99 | Ultimate Edition – £94.99
  • Genre: Action JRPG

Create Your Own Legend In Aincrad

Rather than placing you in the boots of an established hero, Echoes of Aincrad lets you become one.

After logging into the world’s first VRMMORPG, you quickly discover there’s no logout button. Escape is only possible by conquering the towering castle of Aincrad, where every defeat carries devastating consequences.

You’ll create your own avatar from the ground up, choosing equipment, attributes, combat skills and a fighting style that suits the way you want to play. Whether you favour speed, endurance or raw offensive power, your character evolves as the journey unfolds.

More importantly, survival rarely comes alone.

Choose A Partner You Can Trust

Companions play a major role throughout the adventure, each bringing unique skills and tactical options into combat.

Building synergy with your chosen partner unlocks new strategies, while the Switch system allows your ally to step into the fight, cover your weaknesses or tackle enemies independently. Combined with dodging, parrying and real-time action combat, battles promise more depth than simple button-mashing.

Outside combat, players are free to explore bustling settlements, peaceful landscapes and dangerous dungeons filled with quests, treasure and increasingly powerful foes.

More Than One Way To Experience Aincrad

Bandai Namco is offering several editions for players looking to dive deeper into the world.

The Standard Edition (£54.99) delivers the core adventure, while the Deluxe Edition (£74.99) adds a post-game expansion, starter items and immediate access to the brutal Death Game Mode, where defeat means permanent data deletion.

Those opting for the Ultimate Edition (£94.99) also receive the Unanswered//butterfly bonus content app, featuring a full-length promotional animation, digital soundtrack, artwork and exclusive cosmetic armour inspired by its characters. There is the Ultimate Upgrade Pack for £24.99 too.

A Big Release We’ve Been Waiting For

Echoes of Aincrad has been firmly on our radar ever since its announcement earlier this year, when Bandai Namco confirmed the July launch window. Since then, it’s also earned a place in our Best New Xbox Games for July 2026 feature, sitting comfortably among this month’s biggest releases.

Now that launch day has arrived, allowing players to finally see whether this new interpretation of Aincrad delivers on that early promise.

Whether you’re a long-time Sword Art Online fan or simply looking for a sizeable new action JRPG, Echoes of Aincrad offers dozens of hours of exploration, character progression and high-stakes battles inside one of anime’s most recognisable worlds.

The gates of Aincrad are now open on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. The only question that remains is whether you’ll survive long enough to reach the top.

Echoes of Aincrad is not on Game Pass at launch.

Jokers, Deuces And Big Bids – Black Spades Lands On Xbox

Black Spades – dropping hands on Xbox

Sometimes all you need is a deck of cards, a handful of house rules and the confidence to back up your bid. Black Spades arrives today on Xbox Series X|S, aiming to recreate the competitive spirit of countless family gatherings and late-night card tables with an experience built by players who clearly know the game inside and out.

Priced at £23.74, this isn’t trying to reinvent Spades – it’s trying to be the most authentic digital version available.

At A Glance

  • Game: Black Spades
  • Developer: Konsole Kingz
  • Publisher: Konsole Kingz
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S
  • Price: £23.74
  • Genre: Card / Strategy

More Than Just A Standard Game Of Spades

If you’ve played Spades around the kitchen table, you’ll know one family’s rules can be completely different from another’s. That’s where Black Spades looks to stand out.

Rather than offering a stripped-back version of the classic trick-taking card game, it embraces many of the house rules that experienced players expect. Jokers, Deuces and Reneg calling all make an appearance, alongside options like Boston, Blind Bids, Bags, Double Set and the popular 10 for Two scoring system.

The result? Well, probably a game that will be familiar, no matter whether you’re a casual player or someone who’s spent years perfecting your strategy.

Built Around Authentic Play

And instead of adding unnecessary distractions, Black Spades focuses on getting players straight into the action. Rules can be customised to suit your preferred style of play, allowing different groups to recreate the versions of Spades they’ve grown up with.

Whether your household swears by First Hand Open, insists on Reneg penalties or always plays with Jokers high, there’s a good chance you’ll find the settings to match.

A Social Favourite Comes To Xbox

Card games have always been about more than the cards themselves. They’re about reading the table, backing your partner and trying not to let your confidence get the better of you. Black Spades could well capture that atmosphere, albeit digitally, giving long-time fans somewhere to continue those rivalries while also providing newcomers with an accessible way to learn one of the most popular trick-taking games around.

For players who have been waiting for a dedicated Spades experience on Xbox, there hasn’t been much competition – making this arrival particularly noteworthy.

Whether you’re chasing a perfect Boston, risking a blind bid or simply looking to settle old scores with friends and family, Black Spades brings one of the world’s best-loved card games to Xbox Series X|S. It’s available via the Xbox Store, right now for £23.74.

Escape From Umbra Wants To Make You Fear The Dark

Escape From Umbra keyart
Escape From Umbra – out on console and PC

Not every horror game relies on jump scares and overwhelming action. Some prefer to let silence do the heavy lifting. Escape From Umbra is one of those games, dropping players into a village where every shadow could be hiding something far more dangerous than the darkness itself.

Available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam and GOG), this atmospheric puzzle adventure challenges you to escape a relentless witch using little more than your wits, a flashlight and a mysterious book of clues.

If creeping through abandoned streets with your heart pounding sounds appealing, this might be one to keep an eye on.

At A Glance

  • Game: Escape From Umbra
  • Developer: WildSphere
  • Publisher: WildSphere
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC
  • Price: £16.74
  • Genre: Horror Adventure / Puzzle

Every Shadow Could Be Watching

The story places you inside Umbra’s domain, a mysterious mountain village consumed by darkness and inspired by the real-world villages of Las Alpujarras.

Umbra herself is never far away. The witch patrols the winding streets in search of her next victim, while ghostly specters keep watch for even the smallest hint of light. Survival isn’t about fighting back – it’s about staying hidden, solving puzzles and slowly piecing together a route to freedom.

The atmosphere looks to be the real star, with Unreal Engine 5 bringing the haunting village to life through dimly lit streets, abandoned buildings and unsettling shadows.

Your Flashlight Is Both Friend And Enemy

Unlike many horror games, your flashlight isn’t simply there to help you see. It can reveal clues, illuminate your path and even stun pursuing specters with a powerful flash. But every use comes at a cost. Battery life is limited, and any light risks drawing unwanted attention.

Alongside it sits a cryptic journal filled with clues, riddles and observations. Rather than handing you objectives, the book encourages careful investigation, rewarding players who enjoy making connections for themselves.

Horror Without The Clutter

You can be sure that one of Escape From Umbra’s more interesting ideas is its commitment to immersion.

There are no floating inventories, oversized HUD markers or obvious objective prompts. Instead, everything happens naturally within the world. You inspect objects by hand, combine items through exploration and rely on environmental storytelling to make progress.

And if you’re playing on PS5, controller vibration even replaces traditional danger indicators, using your character’s heartbeat to let you know when Umbra is closing in. It’s a subtle touch that fits the game’s slower, more methodical style of horror.

Dare To Escape?

If you’re looking for a horror experience that favours tension, exploration and puzzle-solving over endless combat, Escape From Umbra could be worth adding to your watchlist.

It’s available now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via the Xbox Store, as well as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This one isn’t in Game Pass at launch.

It’s a formula that has earned the game a dedicated community since its original release, and now Xbox players finally get to see what the excitement has been about.

Version 3.5 Arrives Alongside The Xbox Launch

KURO GAMES has timed the Xbox debut to coincide with one of its biggest content updates yet.

Version 3.5, Blade of Past Resounds, Lingering Dream Hymns, introduces the brand-new region of Mengzhou: Land of Xuanfang, expanding the world with fresh environments, story chapters and characters to discover.

New Resonators Yangyang: Xuanling and Suisui join the roster, while Rover gains access to a powerful new Electro attribute. There’s also a selection of new weapons, outfits, challenge content and limited-time events for both newcomers and long-time players to enjoy.

Quality-of-life improvements also arrive as part of the update, refining everything from story autoplay options and Guidebook navigation to PC performance enhancements and voice customisation.

A Big Addition For Game Pass

Xbox has steadily expanded its catalogue of free-to-play experiences through Game Pass perks, and Wuthering Waves feels like one of the most significant additions yet.

While the game doesn’t require a purchase, its inclusion across multiple Game Pass tiers gives subscribers an easy route into one of the biggest live-service RPGs currently available, sitting comfortably alongside other long-running online experiences on the platform.

With an enormous world to explore, fast-paced combat, regular live-service updates and a major expansion landing on day one, there’s plenty for new Xbox players to discover in Wuthering Waves.

Whether you’re arriving through Game Pass or simply taking advantage of its free-to-play model, the journey begins today through the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, alongside the release of Version 3.5.

Marvel Rivals Season 9 The Mystery of Thebes

Marvel Rivals continues its rapid post-launch evolution today as Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes arrives on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, bringing another substantial wave of content to NetEase’s hugely successful hero shooter.

Headlining the update are the arrival of fan-favourite mutant Jubilee, a complete overhaul of the Team-Up system, a major rework for Black Widow and plenty more content set to roll out across the coming weeks.

With a new story, fresh gameplay systems and another hero waiting in the wings, Season 9 looks set to be one of the game’s biggest updates yet. And yeah, we know we probably said that about Season 8 and those before it…

At A Glance

  • Game: Marvel Rivals
  • Update: Season 9 – The Mystery of Thebes
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC
  • Price: Free update
  • New Hero: Jubilee
  • Coming In Season 9.5: The Hood

Jubilee Lights Up The Battlefield

Season 9 welcomes Jubilee to the ever-growing Marvel Rivals roster, joining the game as a Strategist.

Her trademark fireworks aren’t just for show either. Jubilee specialises in controlling vibrant energy plasmoids that both heal teammates and damage enemies, while her Ultimate Ability blankets the battlefield in an explosive fireworks display capable of turning the tide of battle.

She’s the latest addition to a roster that continues to grow at an impressive pace, with The Hood already confirmed to arrive as part of the Season 9.5 update in August.

A Huge Shake-Up For Team Combat

While new heroes always grab the headlines, arguably the biggest change in Season 9 is one players will feel every single match.

NetEase has rebuilt the Team-Up system from the ground up. Every hero now features two independent Team-Up Ability loadouts, with each loadout including both a Base Effect and an Enhanced Effect, dramatically increasing the number of tactical combinations available during matches.

Classic combinations also return, including fan-favourite Team-Ups like Metallic Chaos, giving long-time players familiar strategies alongside the newly expanded system.

Further, Black Widow has also undergone a complete gameplay rework, refreshing her entire combat loop and offering players a very different experience from previous seasons.

New Story, New Map And A Fresh Game Mode

The narrative this time centres around the mysterious Collapsed Timeline.

As Apocalypse attempts to absorb the faith of the gods and ascend to godhood, he’s unexpectedly murdered, triggering a deadly mystery that draws Marvel’s heroes into an unfolding investigation across ancient Thebes.

From there, the new Convoy map – Thebes joins the game following the July 23rd update, transporting players into another visually striking battlefield inspired by Marvel’s Multiverse.

Then, beginning July 30th, players can jump into an entirely new limited-time mode, Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Age of Ultron. Taking the fight directly into Avengers Tower and Ultron’s Data Space, heroes will battle waves of Ultron’s mechanical army while new Times Square events also begin rolling out.

Marvel Rivals Keeps Building Momentum

The competitive scene also continues to expand. The Marvel Rivals Ignite Series Mid-Season Finals head to Los Angeles between July 29th and August 1st, where the top ten teams from around the world will compete for the first World Championship title of the competitive year.

It’s another sign of just how quickly Marvel Rivals has established itself as one of the biggest multiplayer games on the market.

We’ve been impressed with the game since launch, awarding Marvel Rivals a 4.5/5 review score, praising its polished hero gameplay, varied roster and satisfying team-based action. Since then, NetEase has continued to build on that strong foundation with a steady stream of seasonal content, new heroes and regular gameplay refinements.

Marvel Rivals Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes is available today as a free update for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, with Jubilee joining the roster immediately and further content arriving throughout July and August. if you haven’t yet downloaded the game for free, get to it. You’ll find Marvel Rivals on the Xbox Store and the like.

Build Your Way Home In Damways

Damways keyart
Damways – now on Xbox and PC

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the Xbox Store over the past year or three, you’ll know Afil Games rarely stays quiet for long. The publisher has carved out a niche with affordable puzzle games that are easy to pick up but surprisingly satisfying to solve, and now it’s back with another cosy challenge.

Damways arrives today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, asking players to think like a beaver rather than simply move like one.

Available in three Xbox versions for £4.19 each, this latest puzzler swaps crates and switches for lakes, logs and carefully placed dams, delivering another bite-sized brain workout.

At A Glance

  • Game: Damways
  • Developer: Afil Games
  • Publisher: Afil Games
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC
  • Price: £4.19 (three versions available)
  • Genre: Puzzle

Every Slide Counts

The central idea behind Damways is simple, as is the case for many Afil Games titles, but it quickly becomes more involved than it first appears.

Rather than moving one square at a time, your beaver slides across the water until something stops the journey. That could be the edge of the lake, a wall, a piece of timber – or a dam you’ve built yourself. Suddenly, every move becomes less about where you want to go, and more about where you’ll end up.

Build The Lake Around You

The real twist though? Well, that comes from the ability to reshape the environment.

Bundles of wood are scattered across each level, but you can only carry one at a time. Those logs become dams that alter your routes across the lake, opening new paths while potentially blocking old ones if you’re not paying attention.

Thankfully, there’s no punishment for trying different ideas. Unlimited undo and restart options make it easy to rethink your strategy until everything clicks into place.

Ready To Start Building?

Whether you’re a fan of Sokoban-inspired puzzlers or simply looking for something relaxing to enjoy between bigger releases, Damways offers another thoughtful challenge at an equally approachable price.

It’s available now through the Xbox Store, fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S, playable on Xbox One and for Windows PC, with each version priced at £4.19.

Collectively, the package delivers a wide variety of experiences, from traditional fantasy adventures to more experimental takes on the genre.

A Familiar Formula That Continues To Deliver

If you’ve followed KEMCO’s steady stream of Xbox releases over the years, you’ll already know what to expect: accessible turn-based combat, lengthy campaigns, colourful casts and plenty of old-school RPG charm.

We’ve covered several of these games in review. Infinite Links earned a 3.5/5 review score, with us concluding: “Infinite Links does what you want a JRPG to do – it tells a good story, has relatable characters to enjoy and evil baddies to batter, distracting you from your day to day life.

Overrogue also received 3.5/5, praising its surprisingly deep combat systems despite its reliance on roguelite randomness, while Dragon Prana picked up another 3.5/5, with our review noting that it delivers exactly the kind of retro RPG adventure KEMCO fans have come to expect.

Although we didn’t review Fairy Elements, (it was bound to be a 3.5/5, no?!) we did cover its original Xbox launch, making this compilation a handy way to catch up on the one title some players may have missed.

A Cost-Effective Way To Build Your RPG Library

Buying all four games individually would normally cost considerably more than the asking price here, making KEMCO RPG Selection Vol. 10 one of the better-value entries in the publisher’s ongoing compilation series.

For newcomers, it’s an easy way to sample four different interpretations of KEMCO’s JRPG formula. For long-time fans, it offers another convenient addition to a steadily growing collection of retro-inspired adventures.

KEMCO RPG Selection Vol. 10 is available now via the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC for £33.49.

Fastest Ways To Earn Playlist Points This Week

If you’re looking to unlock the seasonal rewards quickly, you may want to prioritise the easier activities first. If that is indeed the case, and pretty much as always, we recommend ticking off the Photo challenge first – it’s the most simple way to rack up the points. Then hit up the Treasure Hunt (literally!) before making the most of Horizon Play – Monster High and maybe even the Danger Sign.

This should allow you to stack up a healthy hit of progress through the Playlist before even touching the longer Seasonal Championships.

Follow our lead from up above and you should find yourself powering through the Festival Playlist challenges in Forza Horizon 6 for Series 2 Spring. And make sure you come back this time next week as we provide you with the tips you’ll need to complete the next set of challenges found in Series 3.

As always, we’d love to hear if any of our cars and tunes helped you out, so feel free to get involved in the comments.

And remember, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 6 in your digital library. It’s available through Game Pass if you prefer. Just head to the Xbox Store and enjoy a download.

Hell Clock’s Diablo-Style Action Lands On Xbox And PlayStation

0
Hell Clock Keyart
Hell Clock – out on Xbox and PlayStation

Action RPGs often borrow from fantasy, mythology or ancient legends. Hell Clock though? Well, that draws inspiration from one of Brazil’s darkest historical chapters to create a roguelike adventure where every run is a fight against both supernatural horrors and the ghosts of the past.

After building an audience on PC with Mostly Positive Steam reviews, Hell Clock has now launched on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, bringing its fast-paced dungeon crawling and distinctive setting to consoles for the first time.

At A Glance

  • Game: Hell Clock
  • Developer: Rogue Snail
  • Publisher: Mad Mushroom
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
  • Price: £20.99
  • Genre: Action RPG, Roguelike

A Roguelike Inspired By Real Events

While Hell Clock delivers plenty of familiar ARPG thrills, its backdrop sets it apart.

The story is rooted in the War of Canudos, a devastating conflict in late 19th-century Brazil. You step into the boots of Pajeú, a warrior determined to rescue the soul of his fallen mentor, descending ever deeper into a twisted vision of Purgatory and Hell where history, folklore and fantasy become inseparable.

It’s an unusual foundation for a roguelike, giving every battle a greater sense of purpose than simply chasing the next loot drop.

Race Against Time

Combat is built around one central idea – the Hell Clock is always ticking.

Every descent into the underworld becomes a balancing act. Push further for better rewards, or play it safe before time runs out. Along the way you’ll gather Relics, unlock powerful Blessings and craft increasingly destructive builds capable of tearing through waves of enemies.

Whether you prefer darting between foes with rapid knife attacks, crushing enemies beneath an enormous bell or unleashing devastating ranged attacks, there’s plenty of room to experiment. Every run offers fresh combinations, encouraging players to constantly rethink their approach.

For those who’d rather enjoy the story without the pressure, Relaxed Mode removes the time limit entirely, while Hardcore mode raises the stakes for players looking for a true challenge.

Already Expanded For Console Launch

Console players aren’t just getting the original release.

Launching alongside the Xbox and PlayStation versions is Cursed War, the game’s first major expansion, available from day one. It adds a brand-new story act exploring another chapter of Brazilian history, alongside fresh environments, tougher bosses, additional Relics, new Skills and expanded endgame systems designed to keep experienced players busy long after the credits roll.

Time Is Running Out…

With its blend of fast-paced hack-and-slash combat, roguelike progression and an unusually rich historical backdrop, Hell Clock looks determined to stand out in a crowded genre. Fans of games like Diablo, Hades and Path of Exile should find plenty to appreciate here, particularly if they’re looking for something that mixes relentless action with a setting rarely explored in videogames.

Hell Clock is available now on Xbox Series X|S (through the Xbox Store, but not as part of your Game Pass subscription) and PlayStation 5. Our review is on the way.

Forge A New Home In The North – Viking Frontiers Arrives On Xbox Series X|S

0
Viking Frontiers keyart
Viking Frontiers – now on Xbox

Survival games are rarely about simply staying alive. The best of them ask you to build something lasting, and that’s exactly the challenge waiting in Viking Frontiers.

Rather than sending you into the wilderness alone, this Norse-flavoured adventure puts the future of an entire clan in your hands, asking you to transform an unforgiving coastline into a thriving Viking settlement.

After previously launching on Steam, where it has earned Mostly Positive user reviews, Viking Frontiers now makes the leap to Xbox Series X|S, priced at £16.74.

At A Glance

  • Game: Viking Frontiers
  • Developer: Wildlands Interactive, BLUM Entertainment
  • Publisher: PlayWay
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S
  • Price: £16.74
  • Genre: Survival, Simulation, Strategy

More Than Just Another Viking Survival Game

The Viking theme has become a familiar sight in recent years, but Viking Frontiers isn’t focused solely on swinging axes and pillaging neighbouring settlements.

Instead, the emphasis is on rebuilding after disaster. Having arrived on an unfamiliar shore with the remnants of your clan, your role as Jarl stretches far beyond gathering resources. Every decision shapes the future of your people, from deciding how the settlement develops to ensuring everyone has enough food, shelter and purpose to survive another harsh northern winter.

It’s a game that blends first-person survival with town management, creating an experience where the success of the settlement depends just as much on planning as it does on exploration.

Build, Hunt And Lead

There’s plenty to keep aspiring Viking leaders occupied.

Crafting, hunting, farming and construction all play vital roles as you gradually expand your settlement from a handful of survivors into a prosperous community. Beyond your own needs, you’ll also be responsible for assigning jobs, introducing laws and managing the wellbeing of your clansfolk.

Whether you choose to become a master builder, a skilled hunter, a respected priest or something in between is entirely up to you, with the game encouraging players to develop their own leadership style rather than following a rigid path.

Random events, changing weather and a full day-and-night cycle ensure that no two settlements evolve in quite the same way.

Survival With A Strong Sense Of Purpose

While survival mechanics form the backbone of the experience, Viking Frontiers also layers in RPG progression, story quests and exploration to give players reasons to keep pushing deeper into the world.

You can follow the main narrative inspired by Viking legends, spend hours perfecting your settlement, or simply venture into the surrounding wilderness in search of resources and new opportunities. That blend of systems gives the game a broader scope than many traditional survival titles, with every successful expedition feeding directly back into the growth of your people.

Having already found an audience on PC through Steam, Xbox players now get the chance to discover whether its combination of settlement management and survival is just as compelling from the comfort of the sofa.

Will Your Clan Survive?

If you’re looking for a survival experience that asks you to think beyond your own character and instead focus on the future of an entire Viking community, Viking Frontiers could be worth keeping an eye on.

It’s available now on Xbox Series X|S for £16.74 via the Xbox Store.

Winx Club: The Magic is Back Casts A Spell On Xbox!

Winx Club The Magic Is Back KeyArt
Winx Club The Magic Is Back – now on Xbox

For many, Winx Club will be a name wrapped in nostalgia, recalling years of animated adventures, magical transformations and colourful characters. Now that universe has finally arrived on Xbox Series X|S with Winx Club: The Magic is Back, giving Xbox fans chance to experience the latest adventure inspired by the new CGI series.

The catch? This isn’t a brand-new release. After launching earlier this year on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC – where Steam players have delivered a largely negative reception – the magical adventure now makes its Xbox debut.

At A Glance

  • Game: Winx Club: The Magic is Back
  • Developer: Iron Frog
  • Publisher: Maximum Entertainment
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S (previously released on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC)
  • Genre: Action Adventure

Returning To Alfea

Built around the latest incarnation of the long-running franchise, Winx Club: The Magic is Back lets players step into the shoes of all six iconic fairies.

Rather than sticking with a single character, you’ll be free to switch between the team as you explore familiar locations from the Winx universe, including Alfea College, the Enchanted Forest, Red Fountain and more. Each fairy brings their own magical abilities into battle, encouraging players to mix up their approach as they progress.

Combat, environmental puzzles and exploration all play a part in the adventure, while spells can be upgraded as you continue your journey.

Bring A Friend Along

One welcome addition is local two-player co-op. Instead of tackling the adventure alone, you can invite a second player to join in, making this a family-friendly experience for younger Winx fans looking to explore the magical world together.

However, while there’s no doubt the Winx licence still has plenty of fans, the game’s earlier launch hasn’t exactly been greeted with universal praise. The PC version currently sits with Mostly Negative user reviews on Steam, with players obviously finding issues beyond the charm of the licence itself. Whether the Xbox version benefits from improvements remains to be seen, but it’s worth approaching with measured expectations if you’re considering a purchase.

Of course, fans of the series may simply be pleased to finally have a modern Winx adventure available on Xbox – something that has been a rarity over the years.

A Franchise We’ve Visited Before

This isn’t the first time we’ve crossed paths with Winx Club. Back in 2018, we reviewed Winx Club: Alfea Butterflix Adventures, ultimately awarding it 2/5, describing it as “one of the worst of 2018” after criticising its poor controls, lack of direction and reliance on microtransactions.

Hopefully, The Magic is Back proves to be a stronger showcase for the beloved franchise. We’ll cross fingers, but we’re not particularly convinced.

Whatever, should you be ready to return to Alfea, Winx Club: The Magic is Back is available on the Xbox Store for £24.99 right now, playable on Xbox Series X|S.

Fiesta Online Is Finally Heading To Xbox, PlayStation And Nintendo Consoles

Fiesta Online is coming to console

After entertaining PC MMORPG fans for many a year, Fiesta Online is preparing to make the leap to consoles. Publisher gamigo has officially announced that its long-running free-to-play anime MMORPG will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, opening the colourful world of Isya to an entirely new generation of adventurers.

Having originally launched on PC back in 2008, Fiesta Online has built a loyal community over the years, and now console players will soon be able to see what has kept the fantasy MMO alive for so long.

At A Glance

  • Game: Fiesta Online
  • Publisher: gamigo
  • Platforms: Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo
  • Release: TBA
  • Price: Free-to-play
  • Genre: Anime MMORPG

A Long-Running MMO Finds A New Home

Fiesta Online has always focused on colourful anime-inspired visuals, accessible gameplay and cooperative adventures, and those foundations are now making their way beyond PC.

Players will journey across the fantasy world of Isya, taking on quests, exploring dangerous dungeons, battling monsters and gradually building their character while meeting fellow adventurers along the way. Guilds, community events and multiplayer activities remain at the heart of the experience, with the console version aiming to preserve everything that has helped the game maintain its audience over the years.

Michael Ha Cheng, Senior Product Manager at gamigo, said: “Fiesta Online has always been about the adventures and friendships players create together. Bringing the game to consoles opens the world of Isya to a new audience while giving longtime players another way to experience it.

Six Classes And Plenty Of Ways To Play

Console players will be able to choose from six distinct character classes, each offering a different approach to combat.

Whether you prefer charging into battle as a Fighter or Trickster, supporting allies as a Cleric, attacking from range with an Archer or Mage, or wielding the holy power of the Crusader, there should be a role to suit most MMO playstyles.

One of Fiesta Online’s standout multiplayer features is its Kingdom Quests, cooperative battles supporting up to 20 players as they take on powerful monsters for valuable rewards and experience. Alongside that are daily quests, guild systems, the long-running Master and Apprentice mechanic, and even in-game weddings for those looking to fully embrace the game’s social side.

A Second Life Beyond PC

Fiesta Online has been available on PC since 2008, where it has continued to receive updates over the years. Its Steam release currently carries a “Mixed” user review rating, reflecting a game that has built a dedicated community while inevitably showing its age in some areas.

Even so, bringing one of gaming’s longest-running anime MMORPGs to consoles feels like an interesting move. Free-to-play MMOs continue to find audiences on Xbox and PlayStation, and Fiesta Online will soon have the chance to introduce Isya to players who may never have experienced the original PC release.

No release date has yet been announced, but Fiesta Online is confirmed to be heading to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo platforms in the future, while remaining available as a free-to-play title on PC.

Shhh… Book It! Has A Library Full Of Puzzling Challenges

Book It keyart
Book It! gets organised

Libraries are usually places of peace and quiet, but Book It! proves they can also be home to some surprisingly satisfying brainteasers.

The latest release from Bad Minions and Little Giant swaps action for organisation, asking players to put every book exactly where it belongs in a charming puzzle adventure that rewards careful planning over quick reactions.

Available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC across three separate versions, Book It! continues the publisher’s growing run of compact puzzle games, following recent Xbox launches like Kitsune Kaeru, where clever mechanics and bite-sized challenges have become something of a speciality.

At A Glance

  • Game: Book It!
  • Developer: Tyne Forge Games
  • Publisher: Bad Minions, Little Giant
  • Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC
  • Price: £4.19
  • Genre: Puzzle

Time To Put The Books Back

The premise couldn’t be much simpler. You play as a stylish librarian whose job is to restore order by pushing books onto their correct tables, solving increasingly intricate puzzles as you work through the library.

Inspired by classic box-pushing games, Book It! builds its challenges around careful positioning and forward thinking. Every move matters, and rushing in without a plan is likely to leave you boxed into a corner.

Thankfully, the atmosphere remains anything but stressful. The whole experience leans into a calm, relaxing pace that feels perfectly suited to its library setting.

Thirty Puzzles, Two Libraries

Across 30 handcrafted levels, players will explore two distinct library environments, each introducing fresh layouts and new logical challenges.

While the mechanics remain deliberately straightforward, it’s the level design that gradually raises the difficulty, encouraging players to think several moves ahead as books, tables and narrow walkways combine into increasingly satisfying puzzles.

Ready To Keep The Shelves In Order?

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Sokoban-inspired puzzlers or simply fancy a quieter change of pace, Book It! looks set to deliver another neat little logic challenge.

It’s available now for Xbox One, fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S and also playable on Windows PC, in three different versions, each of which will set you back £4.19.

A Pirate Classic Returns As Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Sets Sail

Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced
Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced – now available

There are few games that fans have asked Ubisoft to revisit as loudly as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

More than a dozen years after Edward Kenway first hoisted the sails of the Jackdaw, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced finally arrives, rebuilding one of the franchise’s most beloved adventures for modern hardware while adding fresh content to tempt even returning captains.

Launching today on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, the reimagined pirate epic is available in a £49.99 Standard Edition, while a £59.99 Deluxe Edition – also included with Ubisoft+ – bundles in exclusive cosmetic packs for both Edward and the Jackdaw.

Back in April, we covered the announcement of Black Flag Resynced, but now it’s finally time to see whether this long-awaited return to the Caribbean can live up to the enormous expectations surrounding it.

At A Glance

  • Game: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Publisher: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC
  • Price: £49.99 Standard Edition / £59.99 Deluxe Edition
  • Genre: Action Adventure

Still One Of Assassin’s Creed’s Finest Adventures

Ask Assassin’s Creed fans to name their favourite entry and Black Flag almost always sails into the conversation.

In fact, when we looked back at the series in our Looking Back To Black Flag – Assassin’s Creed At Its Peak retrospective, we argued that Edward Kenway’s swashbuckling adventure represented the franchise firing on all cylinders. It blended satisfying stealth with exhilarating naval combat, memorable characters and a world that simply begged to be explored.

Resynced doesn’t change that foundation. Instead, it looks to modernise it.

Edward still carves a path across the Caribbean alongside pirate legends including Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, but now the experience has been rebuilt with smoother movement, more responsive combat and expanded naval mechanics designed to make every broadside feel that little bit more impactful.

More Than Just A Visual Upgrade

While sharper visuals are an obvious part of the package, Black Flag Resynced goes further than a simple graphical overhaul.

Built using Ubisoft’s latest Anvil Engine, the Caribbean benefits from ray tracing, Dolby Atmos support and a more seamless open world, while stealth, parkour and swordplay have all been refined to better match modern Assassin’s Creed expectations.

Naval combat also receives meaningful attention, introducing alternate fire modes alongside improvements to upgrading the Jackdaw, ensuring that ship-to-ship battles remain every bit as thrilling as they were back in 2013.

Just as importantly, Ubisoft says a host of quality-of-life improvements have been implemented throughout, smoothing off many of the rough edges that naturally come with revisiting an older game.

New Stories Await Returning Pirates

Veterans won’t simply be replaying the same campaign.

Black Flag Resynced expands Edward’s journey with additional story content centred around fan-favourite pirates including Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, while three new officers join the Jackdaw’s crew as part of the main narrative.

Elsewhere, players can expect extra sea shanties, collectible pets, a photo mode and other surprises that help distinguish this version from the original release.

Those opting for the Deluxe Edition will also receive the Master Assassin Character Pack and Master Assassin Naval Pack, adding exclusive cosmetics for both Edward and his legendary ship.

There are tons of additional DLC packs present on the Xbox Store too. Take your pick from…

  • Master Assassin Character Pack – £9.19
  • Master Assassin Naval Pack – £9.19
  • Sea Serpent Character Pack – £9.19
  • Hellfire Naval Pack – £9.19
  • Map Pack – £4.29
  • Dragon Storm Naval Pack – £9.19
  • Hellfire Character Pack – £9.19
  • Sea Serpent Naval Pack – £9.19
  • Dragon Storm Character Pack – £9.19
  • Resource Pack – £4.29

The Jackdaw Sails Again

For many players, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remains the benchmark against which every Assassin’s Creed game is measured. Whether you’re returning for another voyage across the Caribbean or experiencing Edward Kenway’s story for the first time, Resynced looks set to deliver the definitive version of one of Ubisoft’s most celebrated adventures.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, priced at £49.99 for the Standard Edition, with the Deluxe Edition available for £59.99 and included as part of Ubisoft+. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is not part of your Game Pass subscription.

Our review of Black Flag Resynced is on the way.

Can You Survive Red Titans?

Red Titans Keyart
Red Titans – now on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

There was a time when shoot ’em ups ruled the arcades, demanding lightning-fast reflexes and happily chewing through your pocket money with every mistake. Red Titans looks to capture that same spirit, bringing a challenging vertical shooter to modern consoles with crisp pixel art, towering bosses and one very important rule – don’t expect an easy ride.

Launching right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, Red Titans arrives priced at £6.69, delivering a love letter to the vertical shmups that dominated the ’80s and ’90s.

At A Glance

  • Game: Red Titans
  • Developer: TEAM Black Hat Robot
  • Publisher: Pdpartid@games
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: £6.69
  • Genre: Vertical Shoot ‘Em Up

Built For Arcade Veterans

From the moment you launch into battle, Red Titans wears its inspirations proudly.

This is a vertically scrolling shooter built around precision flying, screen-filling enemy waves and learning attack patterns through repeated attempts. You’re humanity’s last hope against an escalating conflict that quickly grows beyond a conventional war, placing you behind the controls of the deadliest ship ever built.

It’s a familiar setup for genre fans, but one that promises plenty of intensity across six handcrafted stages packed with enemies and imposing bosses.

Skill Over Second Chances

Be sure though – Red Titans isn’t interested in holding your hand.

The core campaign strips things back with no continues, meaning every life matters. Success comes from learning enemy formations, mastering your weapons and staying calm when the screen fills with incoming fire. Extra lives can be earned along the way, but surviving still comes down to player skill rather than unlimited retries.

For those wanting a slightly different challenge, there’s also a Survival Mode, where every enemy destroyed helps power up your ship. The catch? One mistake ends the run immediately, creating an even greater test of nerve.

Ready For Take-Off?

Whether you grew up on arcade cabinets or you’re discovering shmups for the first time, this looks like another welcome addition to the Xbox library. And so should you be after an old-school challenge that rewards practice rather than patience, Red Titans could be worth adding to your collection.

It’s available now on Xbox Series X|S (through the Xbox Store), PlayStation 5 (PlayStation Store) and Nintendo Switch for £6.69.

Fu’s Ultimate Experiment Reaches Its Conclusion

FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4 picks up as history spirals further out of control thanks to Fu’s increasingly dangerous Ultra Supervillain experiments. Familiar heroes begin disappearing, leaving players with one final opportunity to restore the timeline before everything falls apart.

To help turn the tide, two new playable characters join the roster. Goku (Ultra Supervillain Quelled) enters the fight alongside the Supreme Kai of Time (Ultra Supervillain), both playing central roles in bringing the long-running narrative arc to its dramatic conclusion.

For fans who’ve followed every chapter of the FUTURE SAGA, this serves as the payoff to a storyline that’s been building for years.

New Challenges For Veteran Time Patrollers

Beyond the story content, Chapter 4 introduces plenty of reasons to keep returning to Conton City.

The new Ultra Time Patrol Battles are designed to test even experienced players, throwing them into demanding encounters against a host of iconic DRAGON BALL characters. Elsewhere, the new Gallery of Time allows players to browse more than 1,000 loading screen illustrations alongside memorable Time Patrol movie scenes collected throughout the game’s lifespan.

The DLC also adds:

  • Two Parallel Quests
  • A new Extra Mission
  • Four new moves, including a new Awoken Skill
  • Six costumes and accessories
  • Four Super Souls
  • A brand-new stage
  • Additional loading screen artwork

There is no doubt this is a sizeable package that mixes nostalgic content with meaningful new gameplay.

A Fitting Farewell To A Long-Running Adventure

It’s remarkable that DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 continues to receive meaningful expansions almost ten years after launch, and FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4 feels like an appropriate finale to one of its biggest narrative arcs.

When we reviewed DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2, we said: “Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 has undertaken a huge expansion on everything the original brought to the table. The story, whilst still following a similar theme, manages to feel fresher and more interesting than ever. Lack of content is a criticism that can never be thrown at XenoVerse 2; in fact, it’s a little overwhelming with all the side quests.

Whether you’ve been following Fu’s experiments from the very beginning or you’re simply looking for another excuse to dive back into one of anime’s most content-rich fighters, DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 – FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4 delivers a packed finale that gives Time Patrollers one last chance to save history. Every purchase also includes 2,000 Moonstones, while those looking to start their adventure fresh can opt for the Honeyglow Woods Edition, bundling the base game, the expansion and 10,000 Moonstones for £39.99.

  • Disney Dreamlight Valley: Honeyglow Woods is out now
  • Includes 2,000 Moonstones
  • Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC
  • New Adventure Pack featuring Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and an all-new region to explore

Return To A Forgotten Corner Of Dreamlight Valley

Honeyglow Woods begins with an intriguing discovery waiting in your in-game mailbox. What starts as a mysterious package soon opens a magical gateway to a forgotten woodland where cherished memories and old friends have been hidden beneath an unsettling blanket of fog.

As you venture deeper into the woods, you’ll reunite with Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and Eeyore, helping each of them overcome the challenges keeping the once-peaceful area from returning to its former self. Along the way you’ll gradually restore the heart of the Honeyglow Woods while uncovering the mystery surrounding the towering Everoak Tree.

The expansion introduces four distinct new regions to explore, from flower-filled meadows and misty marshes to giant honeycomb-filled spaces that hide secrets around every corner.

Beekeeping, Pooh Sticks And Plenty Of New Activities

Honeyglow Woods isn’t simply about completing quests. Gameloft has added a range of cosy new activities that perfectly match the relaxed pace Disney Dreamlight Valley is known for.

Players can learn the art of beekeeping, restoring Busy Bees’ Houses to harvest Golden Honey. That honey then becomes a valuable ingredient for dozens of new recipes, furniture pieces and decorative items that can be used throughout your Valley.

The expansion also introduces Pooh Sticks, a charming new mini-game inspired directly by A.A. Milne’s classic stories. Gather friends, head to a bridge crossing the river and see whose chosen object reaches the finish line first. Elsewhere you’ll encounter adorable hedgehogs to befriend, discover hidden temples and forgotten forests, and strengthen your relationships with both familiar faces and brand-new companions.

A Sweet New Adventure For Dreamlight Valley Fans

Honeyglow Woods feels like one of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s most nostalgic expansions yet, blending heartfelt storytelling with meaningful new gameplay systems that go beyond simply adding another character to recruit.

When we reviewed Disney Dreamlight Valley, we scored it 4/5, saying: “I know I should be angry at Disney Dreamlight Valley. The decision to move from a paid experience to an even more paid experience is Ursula-like in its sheer evilness (worse, as Ursula sticks to her promises). I should be angry, but I’m only a few-thousand dreamlight away from affording a new area, and Rapunzel is soooo close to becoming a level 10 friend. There’s too much to be done. There’s no time to be angry.

If you’ve been waiting for another reason to return to your Valley, or simply want to spend time alongside some of Disney’s most beloved characters, Honeyglow Woods offers exactly the kind of cosy escape the game does so well.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: Honeyglow Woods is available now across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Early players who jump into the expansion before July 22nd will also receive the exclusive Rainy Day Winnie the Pooh Dream Style delivered directly to their in-game mailbox.

The Viral Horror Hit Has Finally Arrived – Buckshot Roulette Surprise-Drops On Xbox And Game Pass

Buckshot Roulette – surprise launching on Xbox and Game Pass

We knew it was coming. We just didn’t know it would happen like this.

Buckshot Roulette has now made a surprise arrival on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and, perhaps best of all, Game Pass, giving Xbox players their first chance to experience one of the biggest indie horror sensations of recent years.

If you’ve somehow managed to avoid the hype, imagine Russian Roulette… but replace the revolver with a 12-gauge shotgun.

At A Glance

  • Game: Buckshot Roulette

  • Publisher: CRITICAL REFLEX
  • Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Game Pass
  • Price: £2.49
  • Genre: Horror, Strategy

The Viral Hit Finally Pulls The Trigger On Xbox

When Buckshot Roulette exploded onto Steam, it quickly became one of those rare indie games everyone seemed to be talking about. Streamers couldn’t get enough of it, horror fans embraced its unsettling atmosphere, and its brutally simple premise helped it rack up millions of sales.

Now it’s Xbox’s turn.

Set inside a grimy underground nightclub, Buckshot Roulette transforms the deadly game of Russian Roulette into a tense psychological duel against a mysterious opponent known only as The Dealer. Both players know exactly how many live and blank shells are loaded into the shotgun – they just don’t know the order.

Every decision becomes a gamble. Do you fire at yourself and hope for a blank? Do you aim at your opponent? Or do you play your collection of items to shift the odds in your favour? It’s a game built on nerve as much as luck.

More Than Just A One-On-One Showdown

The original duel with The Dealer remains at the heart of the experience, with tense matches lasting around 15 to 20 minutes as you attempt to survive three increasingly dangerous rounds.

Since its original launch, however, Buckshot Roulette has grown beyond that. Xbox players are jumping in with the multiplayer update already included, allowing up to four players to gather around the table. Temporary alliances, betrayals, desperate bargains and outright deception all become part of the experience as everyone fights to be the last person standing.

There’s also a Double or Nothing mode for those who think surviving once simply isn’t enough.

We Knew It Was Coming…

Regular readers may remember that we covered the announcement back in 2025, when Buckshot Roulette was confirmed for Xbox and Game Pass. At the time it already felt like one of the more exciting indie arrivals on the horizon, largely thanks to the incredible reception it had earned on PC.

Now the wait is over.

If you’ve watched videos online but never had the chance to experience the tension for yourself, there’s finally an opportunity to see what all the fuss has been about. Find Buckshot Roulette on the Xbox Store, playable through Game Pass and on Xbox and PC.

Sometimes the biggest Xbox launches aren’t the ones with blockbuster budgets. Sometimes all it takes is a shotgun, a smoky nightclub and one very bad decision.

GOALS Unveils Ambitious Esports Vision With First Global Tournament Series

GOALS eSports – it’s coming!

GOALS may only have launched recently on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Play Anywhere and Game Pass, but the free-to-play football title is already making its competitive ambitions crystal clear. The developers have now revealed a full esports ecosystem, complete with global tournaments, offline championships and a clear pathway for aspiring players to reach the very top.

With registration opening later this month, the inaugural GOALS Open will mark the beginning of what the studio hopes will become one of the biggest competitive football scenes around.

  • Price: Free-to-play

A Competitive Scene Built Around Skill

Unlike many football games that focus heavily on licences and annual releases, GOALS has always positioned itself as a gameplay-first experience where player skill is the deciding factor.

That philosophy now extends to its esports plans, with two flagship tournament formats forming the backbone of the competitive calendar.

GOALS Majors will take place online throughout the year, allowing the world’s strongest players to compete for prestige and valuable qualification points. Access to these tournaments will come via the global rankings, with the Top 500 players earning the opportunity to prove themselves.

Above that sits GOALS Masters, the game’s premier offline championship. Reserved for the very best competitors, Masters events will feature qualification through previous tournament success or demanding Top 500 qualifier stages before bringing elite players together on LAN.

GOALS Open Kicks Things Off This Summer

The first chapter of this competitive journey begins with the GOALS Open, giving players worldwide their first chance to establish themselves on the international stage. And the tournament schedule is already locked in:

  • Regional Pre-Qualifiers: August 7th-9th
  • Regional Finals: August 14th-16th
  • GOALS Open Grand Finals: September 12th in Stockholm, Sweden

From there, the competition will be split across three territories – that of Europe & Africa, over to the Americas, and into Asia, Middle East & Pacific.

The strongest competitors from each region will earn a place in Stockholm, where they’ll battle for international bragging rights and a share of the $10,000 prize pool.

Registration for the GOALS Open begins on July 20th, with additional eligibility details expected in the coming weeks.

More Than Just Professional Competition

While the professional circuit sits at the heart of the announcement, GOALS is also placing significant emphasis on community tournaments.

Theere are plans to support grassroots organisers with tournament tools, spectator features and official prize pools featuring in-game rewards. Local communities, creators and amateur organisers will all be able to host their own competitions, helping build the ecosystem from the ground up rather than relying solely on professional events.

There is also commitment to investing in initiatives designed to make competitive play more welcoming and accessible, with an emphasis on creating an inclusive environment for players around the world.

Built For Competitive Football From Day One

The esports announcement feels like a natural next step for GOALS.

Since launching in June (download GOALS now for free from the Xbox Store), the free-to-play football title has focused on responsive gameplay, custom physics, true cross-platform play and a competitive structure free from scripting or hidden mechanics. Features such as ranked ladders, spectator tools, replay systems and built-in tournament support were all designed with organised competition in mind.

Now, with the GOALS Open ready to kick things off this summer, players finally have a pathway from online matchmaking all the way to an international stage. If GOALS can back up its gameplay with regular tournaments and a thriving community scene, it could become one of the most interesting names in football esports over the coming years.

Sokocat: Castaway drops a determined little feline onto a mysterious island, inviting players to explore, experiment and solve clever environmental challenges at their own pace.

A Cozy Take On Classic Sokoban

If you’re familiar with the classic Sokoban formula, you’ll already have an idea of what awaits. Boxes need pushing, paths need planning, and every puzzle asks you to think a few moves ahead.

Sokocat: Castaway builds on those foundations by wrapping them inside a colourful 3D world that’s designed as much for exploration as it is for brain-teasing. Rather than moving from one isolated puzzle screen to the next, you’ll journey across a sizeable island filled with beaches, forests, caves and ancient ruins, each introducing fresh mechanics and new ideas.

There are no enemies chasing you, no combat encounters breaking the flow, and no fail states waiting to punish experimentation. Instead, every challenge is about observation, patience and figuring out the best solution.

It’s the sort of game that’s happy to let you stop, think and try again without frustration getting in the way. If your idea of winding down involves untangling clever environmental puzzles rather than surviving another stressful boss fight, this could be worth a look.

Explore Every Corner

The island holds more than just the route to the finish.

Hidden collectibles, optional puzzles and achievements are scattered throughout the adventure, giving completionists plenty of reasons to venture off the beaten path. Every new area introduces environmental twists that keep the puzzle-solving feeling fresh, while the welcoming design ensures players of all skill levels can settle into the adventure.

Sokocat: Castaway is available now on the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support, priced at £4.19.

If you’ve been searching for another relaxing puzzle adventure to slot between larger releases, this shipwreck might just be worth embracing.

The Fissure Wants You To Question Everything You Remember

The Fissure – out now on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC

There’s something unsettling about returning to a place you’ve never been before… only to feel as though you’ve already lived there. That’s the mystery at the heart of The Fissure, a new narrative adventure that leans into atmosphere, memory and uneasy family secrets rather than cheap jump scares.

Available today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC with Play Anywhere, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, this latest release from Eastasiasoft invites players to unravel a story where every decision has consequences.

At A Glance

  • Game: The Fissure
  • Developer: SMV Games

  • Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Play Anywhere, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: £4.19
  • Genre: Adventure, Visual Novel

A Village That Feels Uncomfortably Familiar

The Fissure follows Nahuel, a young man travelling to his mother’s remote hometown of San Adraín following unexpected events. It’s supposedly his first visit to the isolated village, but almost immediately things begin to feel… wrong.

The streets seem strangely familiar, the old family home carries an unsettling atmosphere, and locals who should be complete strangers behave as though they’ve known Nahuel for years. As he digs deeper into the village’s past, it becomes clear that buried memories and long-forgotten truths are waiting to surface.

The Fissure is most definitely interested slow-burning psychological mystery, allowing the tension to build through conversations, exploration and carefully placed revelations.

Your Decisions Shape The Story

And as a visual novel, The Fissure puts narrative front and centre.

Throughout the adventure you’ll make key decisions that influence Nahuel’s relationships, uncover different clues and ultimately determine how the story reaches its conclusion. Multiple endings encourage repeat playthroughs, with fresh scenes becoming available as you gradually piece together the bigger picture surrounding San Adraín and Nahuel’s connection to it.

Rather than presenting every answer in a single run, the game encourages players to compare discoveries across multiple playthroughs until the full truth finally comes into focus.

An Atmospheric Tale Rather Than A Traditional Horror

While the family home may appear haunted and the village itself is full of uneasy moments, this one is all about the suspense than outright scares.

Expect quiet conversations, memorable characters and an oppressive sense that something isn’t quite right, with mature themes woven into a story built around memory, identity and the secrets families choose to keep hidden.

If you’re after action, this probably isn’t it. But if you enjoy narrative-driven adventures where the storytelling does the heavy lifting, The Fissure could be worth a closer look.

Ready To Return To San Adraín?

At £4.19, it’s an affordable mystery that asks players to pay attention, question everything and discover whether the memories haunting Nahuel are real… or something else entirely.

Find The Fissure on the Xbox Store, the Nintendo eShop, or PlayStation Store. And stay tuned for our full review.
