Ever since 2016, Konami and Barcelona have gone hand-in-hand. Today comes confirmation of renewal of that partnership, allowing the Barcelona name to continue in eFootball for another season.Â
It’s a big birthday celebration over at the Konami offices currently, as the studio commemorates 28 years of football gaming. They are doing so with new eFootball updates.
Remember Konami? They we once responsible for the likes of Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania and lest we forget, for better or worse eFootball/Pro Evolution Soccer. Well, it would appear the sleeping giant is stirring again with the one of the biggest announcements from the whole Tokyo Games Show 2022: Suikoden I&II are receiving the HD Remaster treatment in 2023 for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.
The less said about the disastrous release of eFootball 2022 in limited free-to-play form back in September 2021, the better. But if you thought the wreckage of release was enough to put off Konami from moving forward with things, you'd be wrong. Today they have announced a new partnership with AC Milan, with this covering both eFootball rights and Milan's training kits, going forward.
Depending on your age you would have grown up with Winning Eleven or PES, but in recent times Konami have looked to take those franchises and evolve them, adding in the eFootball moniker with PES 2020. Now though they are taking things to the next level, presenting eFootball - the next-generation free-to-play football simulation experience that they hope will be able to take it to EA and their FIFA franchise, winning out in the process.
Konami have gone all out with the introduction of many new team partners over the last few months, and today they are adding another to the group - and this time round we see Lazio and Paul Gascoigne arrive.
Licenses sell games, and Konami know that which is probably why they have gone all out to secure as many deals as possible for their PES franchise. Today they are announcing a whole new partnership, one that will see their Italian arm expand with the introduction of Italy's Second Division - Lega Serie B.
