Dead Drop Studios have been pretty busy over the years, mostly building out their long-running Outbreak series of games. They are looking to continue in that vein too, yet with the next instalment in the franchise, Shades of Horror, they'll be looking to utilise the power of Kickstarter.

2021 has been a busy old year for the Dead Drop Studios team, seeing them push out a whole plethora of Outbreak titles to console; mostly in the form of Xbox Series X|S Optimised experiences. Today though they deliver an Anthology of their finest games, those which play on the cooperative side of gaming with the Outbreak Co-Op Anthology bundling together four Outbreak titles into one easy to handle package.
The real horror here is the fact that as the sixth instalment of a so called “series”, Outbreak: Endless Nightmares has absolutely no semblance of a functioning video game. This feels like an incomplete gamma build of a hobby project, and I shudder to think what the five prequels would be like. A solo development effort is an admirable endeavour, and making games is incredibly difficult, but there is simply no valid excuse to churning out a completely broken and non-functioning experience.
There is no shortage of Outbreak titles present and correct on both current and next generation consoles, as well as on PC. Now though there's a new take on the nightmares that unfold with Outbreak: Endless Nightmares ripping up the trademark survival horror to worm in a new roguelike twist to proceedings.

Today they bring those together in the Outbreak Definitive Collection - a bundle of games that promises to provide all the nightmares you could ever want. For various reasons.
Up until just a few short weeks ago the whole Outbreak saga had begun to die down a little, but since that time we've seen The New Nightmare, Epidemic AND The Nightmare Chronicles all arrive on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in Definitive Edition. The launch of Outbreak: Lost Hope Definitive Edition therefore fits in nicely.
If Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles had a pound for every time a journalist compared it to Resident Evil, it’d probably go out and buy the Resident Evil movie boxset. There’s no avoiding it: this is a game series that adores Resident Evil, from the fixed camera to the slippy-slidey feet movement, even down to the ‘blip’ sound as you move around items in your inventory. Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles Definitive Edition is out now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
