July 2018 saw Ratalaika Games and Petite Games team up to deliver Super Destronaut DX to consoles. Providing a simple Space Invaders style affair, it failed to really ignite the enthusiasm for the genre. Today though both Ratalaika and Petite are back with Super Destronaut: Land Wars on Xbox One, PS4, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch, taking the whole shoot-em-up experience into neon-fuelled 3D!
You may have previously heard of the Doughlings, after all it was they who were first thrust into our lives by the development team at Hero Concept, with the rather decent Doughlings: Arcade back in 2018. Now though they are back, and this time the Doughlings are enjoying a bit of Space Invaders inspiration with the launch of Doughlings: Invasion.
Cake Invaders is a fun game for a limited period of time. It’s exciting and can be challenging, depending on how the power-ups fall, but equally after about half an hour, you are likely to have seen all it has to offer. For achievement hunters, it’s an easy sell, but for folk looking for a return on their investment, that’s less so.
We're only a little familiar with the Baumkuchen, but what we do know is that the traditional German cake has found much love in the Far East, Japan to be more precise. We also know that it's the central focus of Cake Invaders, as players are given the chance to protect the Baumkuchen and pretty much save the universe.
Economic simulation, empire building, classic RTS skimish action, challenging single player campaign, versatile battle mode, competitive and cooperative multiplayer AND a ton of humour. Should you wish to become the Commander of Spacebase Startopia you're going to have a lot on your plate.
Way back in August 2019 Kalypso Media - they behind the superb Tropico series - announced that gamers would soon be able to take a space walk with the launch of Spacebase Startopia, a brand new space station management sim which would let us reach for the stars. Planned to originally launch in Q3 2020, and then seeing the next October launch date revised for Spring 2021, we'll be honest to admit that we didn't expect to be given the opportunity to head into space any time soon. But hey, 2021 is already proving to be a upgrade on that which went before it and now we see Spacebase Startopia arrive on Xbox - albeit in Xbox Game Preview form.
Ratalaika Games have made a name for themselves over the years by porting over cheap and cheerful little indie titles to console. That is what we are seeing again here, with them taking the base game of Spacejacked and transporting it to a new galaxy; a galaxy populated by Xbox One and Nintendo Switch players.
You probably know all about Kalypso Media, if only because of the brilliant Tropico series, and Tropico 6 especially. Well, you're soon going to be hearing even more of them as combined with the development team at Realmforge Studio, they have announced a new space station management sim for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC - Spacebase Startopia!
