In a hard week for gaming, the new releases just keep flowing. And that means TheXboxHub team get together to chat over the latest news, reviews and opinions. For TheXboxHub Official Podcast #191 it's the launch of Tekken 8 and the huge number of layoffs hitting the gaming industry that is front and centre.
The actual fighting is the best it’s been in Tekken; the cinematic moments are a real plus point as you get a brief second to appreciate how good this game looks.
The purpose of this article is to look back to one of my favourite fighting games of all time, Tekken 2. While at the time it was cutting edge, with more polygons on display than other games such as Battle Arena Toshinden, with the benefit of hindsight it’s a rough looking game these days.
Four years is a long time, but thanks to the constant slew of DLC additions for Tekken 7, those four years since original launch have flown by. And Bandai Namco still aren't holding back when it comes to expanding and enhancing their ultimate fighting machine as two more DLC packs drop into Tekken 7 - Lidia Sobieska and the Island Paradise.
For a game that is more than three years old, Tekken 7 isn't doing too bad for itself. After providing gamers with plenty of initial fighting opportunities, and then continuing to roll out DLC pack after DLC pack, it could be said that it has continued to stay fresh. Even now, here in 2020 it is still pulling punches, delivering even more content and characters to the game thanks to the introduction of Season Pass 4.
Tekken 7 may be the latest and greatest entry in the world's favourite fighting franchise, but today we see the Christmas gifts continuing to drop with the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for January 2020 delivering Tekken 6 free of charge.
After a dodgy old 2019 in which the Xbox Games With Gold scheme has had to play second fiddle to the brilliant Xbox Game Pass, 2020 looks set to be a different kettle of fish, particularly if we take the brilliant set of four games that have now been confirmed as Xbox Games With Gold freebies for January 2020.
