The chilling whispers have become a terrifying reality – KONAMI has officially unveiled SILENT HILL f.

SILENT HILL f is a haunting new chapter in the legendary horror franchise, set to immerse players in a world of psychological terror and unsettling beauty.

This announcement sends shivers down the spines of horror fans worldwide, promising a fresh and deeply unsettling experience.

With SILENT HILL f on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, KONAMI aims to push the boundaries of the series, transporting players to 1960s Japan. This departure from the familiar, fog-laden American town promises a unique blend of cultural horror, drawing upon Japanese folklore and psychological torment.

A Haunting New Setting

Set in the remote mountain town of Ebisugaoka, SILENT HILL f introduces us to Shimizu Hinako, a teenager whose ordinary life is shattered when a thick fog descends, transforming her familiar surroundings into a desolate and terrifying landscape.

As the town seemingly empties, and an unknown menace lurks within the mist, Hinako must confront the spectral remnants of her past, solve intricate puzzles, and battle horrifying entities to survive.

A Visionary Narrative

The story of SILENT HILL f is crafted by the acclaimed writer Ryukishi07, known for his work on Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry. Ryukishi07’s signature blend of psychological horror and emotional storytelling promises to deliver a deeply immersive and unsettling narrative.

He describes his involvement as a “deeply personal experience,” pouring his “efforts into this story, so much so that I don’t think I would mind if it was the last thing I ever wrote.” This level of dedication is sure to resonate with fans of the series, who have long appreciated its ability to explore the depths of the human psyche.

A Bold New Horror Approach

Joining Ryukishi07 is a team of talented creators, including celebrated illustrator and monster designer kera, who brings her evocative style to the game’s visual design.

Legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, a defining force in the SILENT HILL series for over 25 years, returns to craft the chilling soundscapes of the Fog World, blending haunting melodies with psychological horror. He is joined by Kensuke Inage, who will compose the music for the Otherworld, creating a unique auditory contrast.

Producer Motoi Okamoto, fresh from the success of the SILENT HILL 2 remake, leads the project with a vision to reinvigorate the series through its first-ever Japanese setting. He emphasizes the game’s unique approach to horror, balancing traditional SILENT HILL elements with the distinctive aesthetic of Japanese folklore and fear.

A Legacy of Horror

The SILENT HILL franchise has a long and storied history, with each installment leaving its mark on the horror genre. From the psychological depths of Silent Hill 2, to the controversial Silent Hill: HD Collection, the series has consistently challenged players with its unsettling atmosphere, complex narratives, and terrifying creatures.

SILENT HILL f promises to continue this legacy, pushing the boundaries of horror with its unique setting, visionary narrative, and bold new approach. The game will challenge players with uncomfortable themes and psychological torment, reflecting the customs and culture of 1960s Japan while delivering an intense and deeply emotional experience.

An Experience That Pushes Boundaries

The game is set to challenge players with uncomfortable themes and their attached psychological torment. The game reflects the customs and culture of Japan during that era while delivering an intense and deeply emotional horror experience.

Players can wishlist SILENT HILL f now on all respective platform stores to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S consoles (so yes, you’ll be able to play Silent Hill f on Series X!), or on PC via Steam, Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
