Dark Deity 2
Dark Deity 2 – out now

The next generation of a popular indie tactical RPG has arrived, bringing with it a new story, new heroes, and a host of deep new systems.

Dark Deity 2, the sequel to the strategy hit, has launched today, 7th November 2025. This new chapter from developer Sword & Axe and publisher indie.io is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC for ÂŁ24.99.

Set a quarter of a century after the first game, Dark Deity 2 follows the descendants of Irving as they face a new threat, navigate treacherous politics, and lead 20 scrappy heroes-to-be into a war they are not prepared for.

A Desperate Defense Against a New Threat

The story begins 25 years after the original Dark Deity. Irving and the Eternal Order have carefully rebuilt Verroa, but a new threat looms on the horizon. The neighboring Holy Asverellian Empire needs new lands, and the fragile, fractious Verroa seems ripe for the taking.

You must take command of the Eternal Delegation, led by Irving’s descendants, Gwyn and Riordian. This is a land torn apart by factions and strife, and your decisions will determine the shape of your alliances and drastically change the coming battles. You must decide who to support and who to throw to the wolves – but weigh each option carefully, as your choices may fundamentally change how you play.

Strategise, Prevail, and… Randomise!

Dark Deity 2 is built on a deep, turn-based tactical combat system that promises endless replayability.

This is a game for those who love to tinker with their team. You will command 20 unique heroes and guide them through 45 branching classes, each with its own tactical niche. But the real depth comes from the skills, abilities, and gear that can completely upend your tactics.

Hardship will also forge (or break) bonds between your heroes as they fight against seemingly impossible odds.

In a fantastic move inspired by the fan communities of popular RPGs, Dark Deity 2 features a built-in comprehensive randomiser and campaign customisation suite right from launch. This allows for near-limitless replayability, with options for a random recruitment order, custom difficulty runs with stat sliders, and much more.

Your War Horn

Here’s what you can expect from this new tactical RPG:

  • A New Story: Set 25 years after the original, with a new generation of 20 heroes.
  • Deep Tactical Combat: 45 branching classes with deep customisation.
  • Decisions That Matter: Navigate treacherous politics, forge alliances, and change the outcome of the war.
  • Built-in Randomizer: A comprehensive suite for near-limitless replayability.

The drums of war are beating, and a new generation of heroes must rise. If you’re a fan of deep, strategic, and endlessly replayable tactical RPGs, Dark Deity 2 is ready for your command on the Xbox Store right now.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
