A Master Thief is on the loose in Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One’s Story DLC “Beyond A Joke”

sherlock holmes chapter one beyond a joke dlc

It’s only been a few weeks since Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One launched on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC, but it’s safe to say the initial Sherlock adventures went down pretty damn well. If you’re one of the many who enjoyed what Frogwares had to tell, then you’ll be pleased to hear that the first story-based piece of DLC is rolling out – and that’s definitely not Beyond A Joke.

A brand new one hour long story mission, Beyond A Joke builds out the Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One base game nicely. It’s included for those who have bought the Season Pass or Deluxe Edition of the game, but is also freely available to add in as an individual purchase should you feel the need. You’ll find it on the digital storefronts of Xbox, PlayStation and PC from 6pm local time today (that’s 17th Dec).

The first of three major bonus story content additions that are planned for Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, this 1 hour+ story mission will see Sherlock face off against a master thief who is targeting Cordona’s ultra-rich and doing so with brazen gusto and open mockery. The quest is activated by eavesdropping in Grand Saray and you should be aware that in order to access it, the second main quest (A Gilded Cage) must have been completed.

The DLC also comes with two additional cosmetic costumes for Sherlock.

From there, the next two planned story missions are set for early 2022 releases and will centre around Sherlock’s brother Mycroft and a mysterious shadow figure, only known as M. By that time we may even have seen Frogwares release Chapter One onto older systems too. You see, whilst this is currently a next-gen exclusive, working only on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC, the team are eyeing up a Q1 2022 launch on Xbox One and PS4.

Head to your local digital store later today.

It goes without saying that if you haven’t yet picked up the base game, you should do so. Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is available from the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store and multiple PC offerings.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
