Yurukill- The Calumniation Games – now on Xbox

One of the most bizarre, brilliant, and utterly unique genre mashups of recent years, which has already received “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam, has just opened the gates to its deadly amusement park on Xbox – Yurukill: The Calumniation Games.

Playing out as a twisted adventure, this one comes from IzanagiGames. Following its successful release on PC and PlayStation, Yurukill: The Calumniation Games, a strange and compelling title, is available right now for £20.99 on Xbox Series X|S.

Prepare for a game where you must solve your own murder case to prove your innocence, and then take to the skies in a high-octane shoot ’em up to destroy your accuser’s prejudices… literally.

Welcome to Yurukill Land

The setup for Yurukill is a wild one. A group of prisoners, known as the Prisoners, are paired up with the loved ones of their alleged victims, the Executioners.

They are all forced to compete in a series of nefarious attractions at the secluded amusement park, Yurukill Land. For the Prisoners, victory means a full pardon. For the Executioners, it’s a chance for revenge.

A Tale of Two Genres

The first half of the game is a deep and engaging mystery. You must solve puzzles and uncover hints about the crimes you stand accused of. This all culminates in “Maji-Kill Time” – tense, life-or-death cross-examinations where one wrong answer means it’s all over.

Once you’ve gathered your evidence, the game completely shifts genres. You must pilot your Yurukill Fighter through a series of top-down shoot ‘em up sections, developed by the veteran shmup masters at G.rev (of Ikaruga fame)!

Here, you will put your understanding of each case to the test in High-Speed Quizzes and destroy your Executioner’s prejudices in the “Prejudice Synapse,” all while blasting through hordes of enemies.

Key Features

  • A Unique Genre Mashup: A game that is both a deep murder mystery visual novel and an intense, high-octane shoot ’em up.
  • From Acclaimed Creators: Features a story from Kakegurui author Homura Kawamoto and shmup development by the legendary G.rev.
  • Clear Your Name: Solve puzzles and survive tense “Maji-Kill Time” cross-examinations to prove your innocence.
  • Take to the Skies: Pilot your Yurukill Fighter in classic top-down shmup sections.
  • Challenge the Leaderboards: A Score Attack mode with global online rankings is also included.

The gates are open and the cruel, fiendish games are about to begin. If you’re a fan of unique Japanese games, gripping mysteries, and classic shoot ’em ups, Yurukill: The Calumniation Games is ready for you on the Xbox Store right now.

Who will emerge victorious?
