A new challenge awaits as Savant – Ascent Anniversary Edition is revealed

Can you make it to the top? That’s the question being asked as D-Pad Studio unveil Savant – Ascent Anniversary Edition for PC, console and mobile.

You may not have heard of Savant – Ascent, but you should be more than unaware of the studio behind it, as it was D-Pad Studio that released the brilliant Owlboy to the world. Savant – Ascent though was the first game to come from that team, and now, on the tenth anniversary, comes an all-new edition.

Announced as a remaster of the original game, Savant – Ascent Anniversary Edition will be coming to PC, console and mobile devices this coming summer, releasing on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in the process. When it does arrive, it will look to take the platforming shoot ’em up genre to all-new heights.

Savant – Ascent Anniversary Edition will see you playing as the Alchemist, pushed out of his own tower by a force unknown. It’s here where you come in, taking control and trying to make your way north, heading upwards, back to your land. The thing is, limitations come into play and your movement is limited to just two platforms at any one time; these may be moving elevators, space debris or more. Utilising precise dashes, jumps and the magic of missiles should see you right.

But it wouldn’t be a remaster without some new goodies and the Anniversary Edition of Savant – Ascent will come with new content, stages, bosses, power-ups and a soundtrack created by the acclaimed Norwegian musician, Savant. The game even gives you the option to customise your own playlist as you play.

What this means is that you’ll find all-new ways to unlock dashing abilities to outsmart enemies, take on epic new bosses created especially for this anniversary edition and encounter enemies that amass in greater numbers than before in the brand new ‘Survival Mode’. In Survival Mode, fearsome bosses appear of their own volition while you scramble to survive in the Endless Elevator.

“Our studio is well-known for creating Owlboy, but I think a lot of people don’t realise that we released a game before that,” said D-Pad Studio’s Simon Stafsnes Andersen. “Savant – Ascent Anniversary Edition is a fantastic way to introduce that title to a new audience and offer a completely revamped experience for fans of the old title. I hope everyone enjoys trying out the game that birthed D-Pad Studio when it launches this summer.”

We’ll keep you looped as to how Savant – Ascent Anniversary Edition rolls as summer comes and release on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC and mobile takes place. If you’re interested, it may well be worth heading to the Steam page and wishlisting it.

Otherwise, just watch the trailer…
