Some stories are difficult to leave behind. For Asobo Studio, the world of A Plague Tale still has more secrets waiting to be uncovered, and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy now invites players to step into another dark and dangerous chapter of the franchise.
Launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support, Resonance takes the series somewhere new – both in time and place. Set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem, this latest adventure follows Sophia as she journeys towards a mysterious island, ancient myths and a truth that may be far more dangerous than she first imagined.
And for Xbox players, there’s another reason to pay attention, as Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is available Day One with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

A New Path Through The World Of A Plague Tale
The previous A Plague Tale games (Innocence and Requiem) established a world filled with danger, loss and supernatural mysteries, following the journeys of Amicia and Hugo through the horrors of medieval France.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy moves away from that familiar perspective to tell an original story centred around Sophia, a young plunderer who is on the run while searching for answers about her own past.
Her journey takes her to the Minotaur’s Island, a place wrapped in myth and hiding a long-buried curse. But Sophia isn’t alone in her search. Other groups have been drawn to the island in pursuit of a mysterious treasure, while an army is never far behind.
Then there is the creature lurking in the shadows.
Combat, Puzzles And A Battle Against Fate
Resonance looks to bring together several different gameplay ideas as Sophia explores the island and attempts to survive its many dangers.
Combat plays a major role, with players relying on agility, sharp reactions and well-timed parries to survive encounters. Powerful strikes can turn the tide when things get desperate, but Sophia will also need to outsmart enemies rather than simply taking every fight head-on.
Exploration and puzzle-solving are equally important. Armed with knowledge recorded in her notebook, Sophia will follow the trail left by her crew while uncovering secrets hidden throughout the island.
A stolen Minoan sphere also becomes an important tool, allowing players to manipulate light and solve puzzles tied to the work of Daedalus.
Where Greek Myth Meets The Macula
Perhaps the most intriguing element of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is the way it brings Greek mythology into the established A Plague Tale universe.
Sophia’s story moves between her own time in the Middle Ages and the ancient Minoan past, with echoes of history continuing to influence events in the present. Two heroes, separated by time but connected through fate and the mysterious legacy of the Macula, sit at the heart of the story.
It’s a fresh direction for the franchise, but one that still promises the atmosphere, tension and darkness that have helped define A Plague Tale.
The island itself is also as much of a threat as anything Sophia encounters upon it. Treacherous paths, deadly trials and a maze-like world stand between her and the truth, while an unseen presence seems to be watching her every move. Sometimes the only option will be to hide. Sometimes it will be to run. And sometimes, survival may mean fighting back.
Our Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy review
We’ve been hands-on with the new game, awarding Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy a 4.5/5 score in our full review.
We said: “It’s another memorable journey in this world, and I can’t wait to see what the developer does next with A Plague Tale.” Our review found that while there were some initial questions around the new direction, Resonance eventually develops into a spellbinding adventure that successfully combines the A Plague Tale universe with Greek mythology. The mix of action-adventure gameplay, puzzles and horror proves to be a strong one, even if combat can occasionally outstay its welcome.
The Island Is Waiting
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy doesn’t simply revisit what came before. Instead, it heads into the past, introduces a new protagonist and pushes the A Plague Tale universe towards ancient mythology, mysterious curses and the terrifying legend surrounding the Minotaur.
For those who have followed the franchise from the beginning, this looks like another important piece of the wider story. And for newcomers, Sophia’s adventure offers a fresh route into a world where history, myth and the Macula are more deeply connected than ever.
With Day One Game Pass availability on Xbox and PC, there has rarely been an easier time to see where the next A Plague Tale journey leads.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, priced at ÂŁ49.99 (Xbox Store). Xbox and PC players can also access it through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with Xbox Play Anywhere support included.
