It was first revealed way back at E3 2017, with a teaser trailer that dropped us into France in 1349, showing how a savage plague was tearing about the entire kingdom. Now though, after seeing the excitement levels raise with a lengthy gameplay trailer last year, we finally have a fully confirmed release date for A Plague Tale: Innocence on Xbox One, PS4 and PC – alongside the reveal of a new webseries.

A brand new IP from Asobo Studio, A Plague Tale: Innocence will be found releasing on Xbox One, PS4 and PC come May 14th 2019, delivering an original story following the brother and sister duo, Amicia and Hugo, and the Black Death.

Whilst your main focus come that date will be on the narrative surrounding both Amicia and Hugo, right now you can take in a brand new webseries that gives a lovely behind the scenes view of the game. The first episode – that of Roots of Innocence – is available now, delving deep into the backstory of A Plague Tale, centring on the relationship between the two.

These children will be found to encounter 14th century France in a similar way to the player; an unknown and dangerous place that they barely understand but must survive. As the realities of the world of adults press down on them, their familial love will be tested as they work together to overcome challenges from the rat plague and pursuing Inquisition alike.

You’ll also find that this initial episode introduces you to Charlotte McBurney and Logan Hannan, the young actors who brilliantly provide voices for Amicia and Hugo. As you will be able to tell, both are immensely talented and have their own approach to and opinions of these realistic, troubled characters. As your constant companions through the adventure, their work is as vital as anyone’s to creating a moving, emotional experience that will stick with you long past the first playthrough.

Make sure you check out Roots of Innocence right now – if only so as to prepare yourself for the release on A Plague Tale: Innocence on Xbox One, PS4 and PC come May.

Edit: Episode 2 of the Webseries – Dark Ages – is also now available. Give it a watch!

Edit 2: Epsiode 3 is now also available.
