For many, A Plague Tale: Innocence is one of the standout titles of the last few years – in fact, it was right up there with our favourite releases of 2019. After first releasing on Xbox One, PS4 and PC back in 2019, the move to the newer generation of consoles looks to be a brilliant fit for Asobos Studio and Focus Home Interactive’s epic tale, as it enhances and improves on everything from first time around. It’s not just Xbox Series X|S and PS5 players who should be getting excited though, as today also marks the release of A Plague Tale: Innocence on Nintendo Switch too.
For those unaware, A Plague Tale: Innocence follows the life of Amicia and her little brother Hugo. It is their journey which the main focus of this adventure focuses on as they are hunted by Inquisition soldiers and left to try and work their way safely past hordes of deadly rats.
Throughout the tale players get the chance to learn more about the siblings, but they also find trust in each other, looking to overcome the odds that are stacked against them as they navigate their way through the most unforgiving of worlds.
With a Cloud Version of the game dropping onto Nintendo Switch, a whole new range of player can get the chance to join this journey of discovery, but it’s the next-gen improvements that we are most interested in.

You see, with the move to Xbox Series X|S and PS5, A Plague Tale: Innocence gets upgraded with 4K UHD visuals (on Series X and PS5) along with 60fps joy and full 3D audio support. It’ll ensure that this grim journey through medieval France has never felt more immersive, or looked more beautiful. And when you consider this was a highly emotive, massively immersive tale the first time round, that is some going.
You’ll find A Plague Tale: Innocence kicking around on the usual stores for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, along with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players to visit – the Xbox Store being our port of call. You’ll also find the game on the Nintendo eShop for Switch.Â
