A Week In The Hub: 16th-22nd Nov 2014

What a week that was. If you have even the slightest interest in all things Xbox then you really don’t want to have missed the news, reviews and trailers from the last week. Let us round up and give our opinions on the very best stuff.

For a change, we shall start with our trailers list. We normally see a few drop each and every week but this last seven days have seen tons hit home. You can see the full list below but you really must check out the two from Telltale Games – Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands, as well as a rather superb Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions trailer.

Those with a beady eye will spot a reasonable number of Far Cry 4 videos up top. Not only has a Season Pass trailer dropped, but we also told you about the official launch trailer and companion app, as well as bringing you an outstanding Map Editor trailer.

Our full review of Far Cry 4 will be with you in the next few days…keep a look out for it.

That brings us nicely on to the reviews that have gone live in the last week, and there’s something for near enough everyone to enjoy. Initially we took at a look at the wonderful Pure Pool on Xbox One, then made our way to Costume Quest 2 and also Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers & Garruk’s Revenge DLC. All three are more than worth a look at (Pure Pool taking our coveted 5/5 rating) and as they are all digital downloads, there’s absolutely no reason for you not to go and download one or all three of them right now.

There is however another digital Xbox One title that you need to check out. We’ve been bigging up Never Alone a fair old bit over the last few months and now it’s finally here on Xbox One….as is our wonderful review. Telling the story of Nuna and fox, Never Alone will bring something different to your consoles; something you really shouldn’t miss.

Similarly, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is out now on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 and it was something we couldn’t not review. A bit of luck we didn’t either as it has turned out to be stunning and something that little kids, big kids and even bigger kids will flock to. Have a read of our review and then get out there and pick it up!

The final review of the week that we must point you towards is that of Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Possibly going a little under the radar due to the success (and initial criticism) of it’s bigger brother Assassin’s Creed Unity, Rogue has appeared on Xbox 360, bringing the story of Shay Patrick Cormac to the last generation. It’s probably the final time we’ll get to experience an AC title on 360 and Rogue is a fairly decent send off. Check both it, and our review out.

So that leaves us with the news, of which we’ve seen a fair bit of that as well.

It’s the Xbox One’s 1st birthday and Microsoft want to celebrate it with you by giving away a load of stuff. Each and every person who has purchased a console in the last year (and is subscribed to the email updates), will receive an email with some fancy free bits and bobs included. With a full console, games, DLC and other items available, you’ll want to keep an eye out for something from Xbox pretty soon.

Additionally, Sunset Overdrive is being given a ‘free day‘, enabling it to be played by each and every Xbox Live Gold subscriber for nothing!

But that’s not all. Red Faction Guerrilla is now free to all Gold members as part of the current Xbox Live Games With Gold promotion, Defiance has gone free-to-play and Trials Fusion has received a free ‘Teams mode’ as part of it’s latest update. Full online mulitplayer will be on it’s way soon too! There have also been two more digital games added to the Xbox One catalogue with Pier Solar and the Great Architects and Thomas Was Alone both now available for download.

Oh, and you like pizza right? You could do worse than download the free Dominos Pizza App for Xbox One. Gaming and Pizza is just a match made in heaven! Isn’t it?

Thanks as always for checking us out over the last week, hope to catch you all soon on Xbox Live or through our social channels.

Have a good one!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
