Christmas is coming but the gaming never stops and so it’s time to look back and give our opinions on the very best Xbox related news and reviews from the last week.
For one reason or another it’s been a bit of a slower week then usual on TheXboxHub. That doesn’t mean we won’t be pointing you in the direction of the unmissable Xbox One and Xbox 360 news and reviews though….it just means it’ll be a slightly shorter than usual version of ‘A Week In The Hub’.
Hopefully by now you’ve realised that December is in full swing and that of course means it’s time to download a couple of new free games. Thanks to the Xbox Games With Gold promotion scheme, Xbox One owners with a valid Gold subscription will have the option to download Worms Battlegrounds for absolutely nothing (there’s also a new DLC pack out for Battlegrounds in case you were interested!). 360 owners meanwhile now have access to a free copy of The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief. Whilst The Raven comes in three parts, unfortunately it seems that the free Games With Gold version only includes Part 1. I guess if you decide you like it, the charging of the second and third parts won’t seem quite so cheeky.
If free isn’t quite up your street – what are you, some crazy person? – then Xbox One owners also now have access to a few new games.
LIMBO was originally released to critical acclaim on the Xbox 360 so it’s great to see it now pop up on Xbox One. If you didn’t check it out the first time round, you really should make sure you don’t miss it this time. Additionally, the hit mobile game ‘Threes!’ is also now available. We’ll have a full review up for you shortly but if you are looking for a new addiction (or indeed are looking to carry it over from the mobile scene), then you could do worse then check it out. The price – and the fact you can play the game in Snap Mode – more or less sells it itself!
The third Xbox One release this week comes in the form of the latest Telltale Games series – A Game of Thrones. You can check out the launch trailer on this link or our full, pretty spoiler-free review just here. Fan of the show? Fan of Telltales previous offerings? You won’t want to miss this one.
We also managed to review a cracking little Xbox One title, Thomas Was Alone. Telling the rather strange story of a group of Artificial Intelligences gone mad, Thomas Was Alone is a must buy if you are even slightly interested in puzzle titles, grabbing the full 5/5 TXH rating. Have a read of our review and then get out there and download it. Pronto!
News-wise, we feel that the latest Forza Horizon 2 DLC pack, that of the NAPA Classics is a worthwhile purchase. Bringing five new cars to the game (plus a sixth free to all), the NAPA pack contains a little bit of everything for everyone. Similarly, fans of Alien: Isolation will no doubt be glad to see a few new Survivor Mode maps included in the latest Trauma content and whilst we’re on the DLC subject, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will also be getting a little more soon…in the form of a rather cracking sounding ‘Squad’.
