A Week In The Hub: 3rd-9th August 2014

We’re just a matter of days away from Gamescom 2014 and this week all manner of Xbox news and reviews have been dropping. Sit back with us as we point you in the direction of the very best stuff.

We shall begin with our reviews.

We’ve recently started looking more at the accessories you can buy for your Xbox One and Xbox 360 and whereas a couple of weeks back we took a look at the cheap but ever so cheerful new Protek range for Xbox One, we have now also taken in a product from Venom that can be described as nothing more than ‘oozing class’. The Venom Twin Docking Station for Xbox One is rather outstanding and so if you’re looking for a new way to charge your controllers, our review of the twin charging station should be high up on your list of reads.

Aside from the accessories, and The Walking Dead Season Two is slowly drawing to a close. Episode 4: Amid the Ruins continues Clementines battle with the undead and so if you’ve been following the story so far, you’ll most definitely want to be checking the fourth episode out pronto.

If however you’ve not got involved with The Walking Dead and prefer to hark back to the days when games were genuinely scary, you’ll be pleased (maybe that’s not quite the best word to use!) to hear that Resident Evil is back! Coming to both Xbox One and Xbox 360, the most famous scare-em-up over the last twenty years is being remastered and retouched in order to frighten the lives out of a new generation of player. Just watch out for those dogs!

Away from horror and a few titles that should possibly appeal to the whole family have been announced over the last week and you can find more details of those at the links below:

Whilst the above are all well and good, the real big announcement this week came from the guys at Ubisoft. Not content with dropping Assassin’s Creed Unity on the Xbox One, the ‘Big U’ have only gone and surprised many by announcing that a new AC title will be coming to the older generation, Xbox 360 included. Assassin’s Creed Rogue will give 360 owners the chance to play as Shay Patrick Cormac, a Templar who will be traversing the lands of North America. Not only have they released a trailer and release date, but there will also be a special Collector’s Edition of the game coming to all. It’s looking rather good!

We can’t let you go without mentioning WWE 2K15. Not only is it a massive deal to wrestling fans, but gamers are clamoring for the chance to hit the ring as their favourite wrestler. We’ve got a roster reveal list that has been running for a while now, but this week we also told you more about the game modes that will come with 2K15 and indeed the biggest of big deals; the commencing of pre-orders for the Hulkamania Edition of WWE 2K15, complete with limited edition collectibles including a piece of the canvas from the Hulkster’s WWE Raw appearance.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
