Active Matter – coming in 2025

Prepare to have your perception of reality shattered as Active Matter is announced!

Gaijin Entertainment, the studio behind War Thunder and Crossout, and Matter Team have announced Active Matter, a new hardcore tactical shooter that blends intense combat, mind-bending anomalies, and a sci-fi setting inspired by SCP lore.

Set to arrive on PC (via Steam and Gaijin.Net), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2025, Active Matter promises a unique and challenging experience for FPS enthusiasts.

Trapped in a Time Loop

In Active Matter, you play as an operative caught in a relentless time loop, returning to the same point after each death.

You’ll get the chance to venture into quantum-unstable zones, rich in a substance known as “active matter,” which has the power to warp the very fabric of space and time.

Face the Unknown

Battle against rivals from other timelines, survive gravity-defying anomalies, and confront eerie creatures inspired by the SCP Foundation.

But also harvest active matter, collect valuable loot, and extract to safety before the zone collapses, taking everything within it back to the void.

Key Features

  • Mind-Bending Gameplay: Experience a unique blend of PvPvE and PvP combat in a world where the laws of physics are constantly shifting.
  • Hardcore Action: Engage in intense firefights with realistic weapons and tactics inspired by real-world military technology.
  • Time Loop Mechanic: Die and retry, retaining knowledge and experience to overcome challenges and break the time loop.
  • Quantum-Unstable Zones: Explore dynamic environments where gravity-defying anomalies and eerie creatures create unpredictable encounters.
  • Extraction-Style Raids: Embark on solo or squad-based raids to gather active matter and valuable loot.
  • SCP-Inspired World: Immerse yourself in a strange and chaotic world filled with mysteries and unsettling encounters.

Closed Beta Test Coming Soon

A Closed Beta Test for Active Matter is planned for later this year on Gaijin.Net. Players can sign up on the game’s official website to secure their spot and experience this mind-bending shooter firsthand.

Explore the Unknown

Active Matter offers a unique and challenging FPS experience that blends elements of sci-fi, horror, and tactical combat. With its mind-bending anomalies, diverse environments, and hardcore gameplay, this game is sure to captivate players who crave an intense and unpredictable adventure.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
