ADA: Tainted Soil is shaping up to be one of this summer’s more emotionally driven indie releases, as Eneida Games and La Familia prepare to launch their pixel-based combat adventure on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Blending punishing combat with a heartfelt story about love, sacrifice, and corruption, the game invites players into a dreamlike world where saving your family comes at a terrifying personal cost.
Alongside the announcement, a new public demo is now available on Steam, giving players an early chance to experience Ada’s journey and sample the game’s challenging mechanics ahead of launch.
A Dark Fairytale Built Around Family
At the centre of ADA: Tainted Soil is Ada, a young girl exploring ancient ruins in search of her captured family members. During her escape, she becomes infected with a mysterious substance known as Black Ink, a force that grants immense power while slowly corrupting both her and the world around her.
What begins as a desperate attempt to survive quickly spirals into something far greater. Ada must master her unstable abilities, confront monstrous threats, and uncover the Forgotten History of the Old World, all while trying to undo the damage she has caused.
But the Black Ink is both a blessing and a curse. It allows Ada to survive in a hostile, collapsing world, but every use risks further corruption. That tension feeds directly into the game’s combat, progression, and narrative choices, reinforcing the idea that saving those you love is never simple.
Combat, Exploration And Choice Intertwined
ADA: Tainted Soil combines fast, movement-driven combat with open-world exploration and flexible character progression. Rather than forcing a single playstyle, players are encouraged to shape Ada’s abilities through skill upgrades and resource discovery, tailoring her strengths to their preferred approach.
Boss encounters are deliberately unforgiving, demanding careful positioning, pattern recognition, and tactical decision-making. Button-mashing will only lead to failure in a world that punishes impatience.
“Family is the most important thing you’ll ever have, so we wanted to tell a story where that was the central focus,” said Jakub Hakiel, Game Director. “ADA is an extremely difficult combat game with a lot of heart. You’re going to fight, you’re going to struggle, but when the people you love are on the line, failure isn’t an option.”
