Are you ready to be an Adventurous Slime?

Sometimes the biggest adventures come from the smallest heroes. That’s certainly the case in Adventurous Slime, a colourful retro-inspired platformer that has now arrived on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Published by Ratalaika Games (they recently behind Soulshard) and developed by lightUP, the game sends players into a magical kingdom where danger looms once again. A villain known as Lord Old Skull has broken free, and it’s up to a brave little slime to rise to the challenge and restore peace.

With classic platforming mechanics, branching paths and a charming pixel-art style, Adventurous Slime aims to capture the feel of old-school adventure games while offering a light-hearted story and accessible gameplay.

A Slime Called To Heroism

The story behind Adventurous Slime begins when the long-imprisoned Lord Old Skull breaks free and threatens the magical world once more.

With danger spreading across the land, a family of colourful slimes is forced to answer the call of adventure. Players step into the role of one particularly courageous slime, setting off across the kingdom to stop the rising evil.

It might sound like an unusual hero for an epic quest, but sometimes a little slime is exactly what the situation demands.

Explore A Colourful Kingdom

Across the adventure, players will travel through four distinct biomes, each offering different environments, enemies and platforming challenges.

These varied regions help keep the journey fresh while giving players the chance to explore the world at their own pace. Along the way, players can discover alternative routes and branching paths, encouraging experimentation and replayability.

Whether you choose the obvious route forward or hunt for hidden paths, there are plenty of surprises scattered across the kingdom.

Face Powerful Bosses

Of course, every heroic quest eventually leads to bigger threats.

Each biome concludes with a boss battle, where players must overcome powerful enemies standing between the slime hero and their ultimate goal.

Across the adventure you’ll face four major bosses, each designed to test your timing, movement and mastery of the game’s mechanics.

Ready To Slime Your Way To Victory?

Now available through the Xbox Store (£5.99), playable on Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. There are PlayStation and Nintendo Switch versions too, as Adventurous Slime offers a light-hearted platforming journey filled with colourful worlds, branching paths and boss battles.

It might not be the most traditional hero, but if one small slime can defeat Lord Old Skull and save the kingdom… then anything might be possible.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
