At this point, the Aery series has become something of a permanent resident on the Xbox Store. Every few months, another entry glides into view with a familiar promise – peaceful flying, colourful landscapes and a few hours away from the chaos of louder, busier games. Now the latest chapter has arrived, as Aery – Calm Horizon launches on Xbox Series X|S for ÂŁ9.99.
Published and developed by EpiXR Games, Calm Horizon once again places players in control of a small bird drifting through calm environments while collecting crystals scattered throughout the skies.
If nothing else, EpiXR certainly knows its audience by now.

Another Journey Through The Skies
Like most games in the long-running Aery franchise, Calm Horizon focuses entirely on peaceful exploration. There are no enemies, no fail states and no real pressure beyond simply moving through each environment at your own pace.
Players fly through a collection of landscapes while gathering magical crystals that unlock progression through the experience. The idea remains very much centred around relaxation rather than challenge, making this another release aimed squarely at players looking to switch off for an evening.
The game description also confirms that Calm Horizon revisits “some of the most beautiful sceneries from the Aery franchise”. Yep, this latest release acts almost like a curated collection of environments from across the series. But then, that’s something else we’ve seen in these games previous.
A Franchise That Refuses To Slow Down
The sheer number of Aery games released over the years has become difficult to ignore. EpiXR has built an entire niche around calm flying adventures, and despite the similarities between entries, the games clearly continue finding an audience.
We have covered and reviewed plenty of them ourselves over the years too. Most recently, our review of Aery – The King’s Messenger awarded the game a 3.5/5 score, with the verdict stating: “Aery – The King’s Messenger soars past the craters where other Aery games have crashed. It’s about as flawless as an Aery can be.”
That review also raised the question of where the series can realistically go next, particularly given how established the formula now is. Calm Horizon appears content to continue refining that familiar structure rather than dramatically reinventing it.
Comfort Gaming Still Has Its Place
Not every game needs combat systems, massive skill trees or relentless difficulty spikes. The ongoing popularity of slower-paced comfort games continues to show there is room for experiences built entirely around atmosphere and downtime.
That is exactly where Aery – Calm Horizon sits. It knows what we all expect from the series by now and delivers another collection of tranquil flying levels designed for short sessions and quiet evenings.
Whether that familiarity feels relaxing or repetitive will probably depend on how many Aery games you have already played. Whatever, download Aery – Calm Horizon from the Xbox Store right now, before playing on Xbox Series X|S.
