The realms of Age of Wonders 4 are about to be plunged into eternal shadow, as Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios have unleashed the third Expansion Pass for the game, revealing Thrones of Blood in the process.
This highly anticipated, vampire-themed expansion is the first major DLC within the newly announced Expansion Pass 3 and is set to launch on November 11th, 2025.
This upcoming chapter will invite players to rise as powerful vampire rulers and dominate the land with ancient blood magic on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Indulge Your Bloodthirsty Ambitions in ‘Thrones of Blood’
When it arrives in November, Thrones of Blood will fundamentally change how you rule, offering a brand-new path to conquest for those who prefer to operate from the shadows.
At the heart of the expansion is the new Vampire Ruler type, granting players unique powers and options. This will include new skill trees filled with dark abilities, the iconic Vampire’s Castle replacing the traditional Wizard Tower, the power to transform heroes into loyal vampiric servants, and potent Ritual Spells that harness Thralls as arcane fuel.
Players will be able to expand their grimoire with three new tomes, each focused on a different aspect of vampiric power: magic that drains enemies, spells that bolster allies with unholy strength, and abilities that harness foes’ pain to grow more powerful.
The expansion will also feature new narrative content, including haunting quest chains and a new Story Realm that explores the origins of all vampire-kind. Expect to explore dark Sunless Lands, new gothic Ancient Wonders, and encounter new wildlife units like hordes of the undead, gruesome devouring maggots, and swarms of bats.

While Thrones of Blood is set for November, Expansion Pass 3 is available to purchase right now (from the Xbox Store if you like) for a price of £41.74.
Purchasing the pass grants you Thrones of Blood when it releases, as well as two more major future expansions. Better yet, it gives you instant access to the minor Cosmic Wanderer Pack today, which includes:
