2026's Best Games

Not every flight game is about dogfights or dramatic set pieces. Airplane Flight Simulator: EVO takes a quieter approach, built around the simple satisfaction of getting a plane off the ground, keeping it steady, and bringing it safely back down again.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Play Anywhere support, this latest release from Ovilex Soft shifts the focus back to classic flight sim fundamentals, giving players a global playground and a sizeable fleet to master.

At A Glance

  • Game: Airplane Flight Simulator: EVO
  • Developer: Ovilex Soft
  • Publisher: Ovilex Soft
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, Play Anywhere
  • Game Type: Flight Simulator

A World Built For Exploration

Airplane Flight Simulator: EVO doesn’t lock you into tight corridors or scripted routes. Instead, it hands over a globe-inspired open world and lets you decide where to go.

Whether you’re hopping between major cities or attempting tricky approaches into busy airports, the game is built around that freedom. It’s less about ticking off objectives and more about enjoying the journey, plotting routes, reacting to conditions, and seeing how smoothly you can handle each flight.

The sense of scale helps here too. Even short trips feel meaningful when you’re navigating a world that mirrors real-life locations.

A Fleet Worth Learning

With 31 aircraft available, EVO gives you plenty of variety from the off.

Each plane comes with its own feel, encouraging you to adapt rather than rely on a one-size-fits-all approach. The inclusion of detailed cockpits and authentic engine sounds adds to that sense of immersion, making every take-off and landing feel a little more involved.

It’s not just about getting airborne, it’s about understanding the machine you’re flying.

Conditions That Keep You Honest

But of course, no flight sim would be complete without a few complications along the way.

Dynamic weather systems and a full day-night cycle mean conditions are always shifting. A calm daytime flight can quickly turn into a more demanding experience once visibility drops or weather rolls in.

Add in challenging landing scenarios and in-flight radio chatter, and EVO does a solid job of keeping you engaged from departure to touchdown.

A Familiar Name, A Different Focus

If that Airplane Flight Simulator name rings a bell, it should. Ovilex Soft only recently brought Airplane Flight Simulator: Combat Zone to Xbox, offering a more action-focused spin on flying.

EVO feels like a deliberate pivot in the other direction. Where Combat Zone leaned into intensity, this is all about control, patience and precision, a more traditional sim experience for those who prefer their time in the air a little less explosive.

A Straightforward Flight Sim Experience

Airplane Flight Simulator: EVO doesn’t try to reinvent the genre, and it doesn’t need to. What it offers is a clean, accessible way to jump into aviation, backed by enough detail to keep things interesting over time. If you’re someone who enjoys the process of flying rather than chasing objectives, there’s plenty here to sink into.

Sometimes, all you really want is a runway, a destination, and the freedom to get there your own way.

The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download for £15.74.
