After years of building a dedicated community across PC and mobile, Albion Online is finally making the leap to Xbox consoles.

The free-to-play sandbox MMORPG from Sandbox Interactive has been officially confirmed for Xbox Series X|S, with a release date locked in for April 21st, 2026.

Already available on PC, iOS and Android, this console debut isn’t just a simple port. Instead, it’s a fully optimised version designed to bring Albion’s player-driven world to a whole new audience, while still keeping its existing community connected through full cross-play.

A True Cross-Platform MMO Comes To Xbox

One of the biggest talking points around Albion Online’s console arrival is how seamlessly it integrates with existing platforms.

This isn’t a separate version or a split community. Instead, players on Xbox Series X|S will be able to log in using their existing accounts, carrying over all progress, characters and gear. Whether you’ve been playing on PC or mobile, your journey continues uninterrupted.

That also means full cross-play across Xbox, PC and mobile, ensuring Albion’s world remains as busy and player-driven as ever.

Built For Controller Play

Bringing a traditionally PC-focused MMO to console isn’t always straightforward, but Sandbox Interactive has made significant changes to ensure the experience feels natural on Xbox.

The console version introduces a brand-new UI navigation flow, alongside a fully reworked controller scheme designed specifically for gamepads. Systems like the marketplace and inventory have been adapted for easier navigation, while combat has been tuned to feel responsive without a keyboard and mouse.

Additional accessibility features have also been implemented, helping open the experience up to a broader audience.

Forge Your Own Path In Albion

At its core, Albion Online remains one of the most flexible sandbox MMORPGs available.

Set in a medieval fantasy world, the game gives players complete freedom to decide how they want to play. You might choose to become a hardened warrior, a master crafter, a trader dominating the marketplace or even a landowner building up your own territory.

What sets Albion apart is its classless system. Instead of locking players into roles, your abilities are determined entirely by the gear you equip. Switch your weapon and armour, and you effectively switch your playstyle.

This freedom extends into every aspect of the game, from crafting and trading to large-scale PvP battles and guild warfare.

A Living, Player-Driven World

Albion thrives on its community, and the world is shaped almost entirely by player actions.

Nearly every item is crafted by players, bought and sold through local marketplaces, and used in a constantly shifting economy. Guilds can claim land, build infrastructure and defend their territory, while explorers venture across diverse biomes in search of resources, dungeons and hidden paths like the mysterious Roads of Avalon.

It’s a world where every action has consequences – and every player has a role to play.

Radiant Wilds Update Enhances The Experience

The Xbox launch will arrive just days after the Radiant Wilds update on April 13th, which brings a visual upgrade, performance improvements and new content, including an additional PvP mode.

These enhancements will carry over to the console version, ensuring Xbox players are stepping into the most up-to-date version of Albion from day one.

A New Frontier Opens On Xbox

With its arrival on Xbox Series X|S, Albion Online is set to reach an even wider audience while maintaining the core systems that have made it such a success.

Whether you’re a returning player looking for a new way to experience Albion or a newcomer ready to carve out your place in its world, April 21st is shaping up to be a big day.

Because in Albion, you’re not just playing the game – you’re shaping it.

We’ll remind you when the big day arrives. But there’s an Xbox Store page up for the PC version, free through Game Pass. If you prefer to play on Steam
