New World Aeternum is coming to Xbox and PlayStation

You may be more familiar with The Lord of the Rings or Tomb Raider, but it’s actually Amazon Games’ maiden voyage into the MMO role-playing genre which is coming to consoles this Autumn, three years after New World: Aeternum originally released on PC.

As has just been revealed at Summer Games Fest, New World: Aeternum is headed for Xbox in the form of an enhanced experience packed with content. The full base game including all previous updates are present and correct here.

New World: Aeternum puts you in the rather soggy shoes of shipwrecked explorers who arrive at the titular island, which poses epic threats but also offers rich rewards. Crafting, real-time combat and customisation makes for a complex experience boasting hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Cross-platform play is also being introduced so it’s easier for gamers to work either, with or against each other across the various game modes. Or it’s perfectly possible to go solo in New World: Aeternum if you wish to.

Console gamers won’t be short changed either, as Amazon Games have promised feature parity with their PC peers. Players can expect a large-scale PvP zone, a 10 player raid to test your mettle, solo-trials at the end of the game, character upgrades, an overhauled levelling system and more.

“New World: Aeternum is the culmination of years of focused development combined with input from the dedicated community of players who’ve already carved a path in the original New World on PC,” said Christoph Hartmann, Vice President, Amazon Games. “Listening to player feedback is fundamental to how we make games, and we know New World: Aeternum delivers on the promise of a fresh and compelling New World experience that players can enjoy together across platforms.”

It has been confirmed that New World: Aeternum will be launched digitally only, across two tiers. The base game will cost $59.99 (check the Xbox page if you’re looking for GBP) whilst the Deluxe Edition will set you back $79.99. You’ll get a Bear mount and armour skin for the increased price tag.

Or if you are the type that likes to get in on the action early, pre-ordering will award you the Azoth Stalker wolf mount. An important note for those existing PC players too, logging in before October 14th 2024 will bag you the same in-game item.

Take a look below at the freshly released trailer which brings the epic New World: Aeternum crashing into your living room:

New World: Aeternum has been slated for release on 15th October 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

I have been playing games since a very early age, thanks to my Dad's encouragement. I've been an Xbox gamer since the very beginning, the Master Chief is to thank for that. I'm also a big Nintendo geek, and my other half is a PlayStation nut. I'll play pretty much anything in any genre (although FIFA and COD maybe pushing it).
