Updated Article: December 5th 2025

After a long old wait, we’ve finally got a fully confirmed release date for MIO: Memories In Orbit. And it’ll be here before you know it.

Come January 20th 2026, MIO: Memories In Orbit will release on Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5.

We’ll remind you when that time comes, but for now, give the release date announcement trailer a little watch.

Original Article: June 18th 2025

Focus Entertainment and Douze Dixièmes have today revealed MIO: Memories in Orbit. If it’s a sci-fi odyssey you are after, 2025 looks to deliver.

Previously coming together to deliver Shady Part of Me to the world, Focus and Douze Dixièmes join forces once more, this time to create something a bit unique, combining metroidvania elements with a unique art style. The result is MIO: Memories in Orbit.

Orbiting in 2025

Coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC, with plans to launch in 2025, MIO: Memories in Orbit has you playing as the titular robot, MIO, as you are left to explore and conquer the Vessel, a gigantic and mazelike spaceship, to save it from extinction.

Thankfully MIO is a nimble robot with extraordinary abilities. You wake up in the Vessel, a space ship drifting aimlessly in space. It’s here where this enormous technological ark, whose initial purpose remains unknown, lies now as a field of ruins, overgrown with lush vegetation and machines gone rogue.

From there, expect to delve deep into the heart of this technological labyrinth to revive its lost memories, as you guide MIO through the vast expanse of the Vessel. That means you’ll get to unlock new powers and abilities to explore new areas, face off against a fearsome bestiary, and set out on a quest to unlock the secrets of the Vessel.

Now revealed

MIO has been unveiled exclusively at the latest Nintendo Direct, and it comes with an initial trailer too. It’s well worth taking that in, as it reveals a gameplay as intense as it is varied, immersing players in a decadent, hypnotic world of stunning scenery.

“Focus teams are delighted to work once again with one of the group’s internal studios: Douze Dixièmes,” declares John Bert, Managing Director of Focus Entertainment Publishing. “Its creative talents demonstrate the same inventiveness and unrivaled artistic flair that enchanted us on Shady Part of Me, that will shine through again in this metroidvania with its unique atmosphere. We can’t wait to reveal more about MIO and its world, and to see players immerse themselves in this magnificent experience.”

“As a partner studio of Focus Entertainment, we’re excited about this new collaboration”’ says Douze Dixième’s team. “As a publisher, they’re always present to support our ideas and help us iterate on the metroidvania formula. After several years in development, we’re very proud of what MIO: Memories in Orbit can bring to the genre, and this first trailer proves it. We can’t wait to show our players even more over the coming months. “

More to follow

Expect to hear more about MIO: Memories in Orbit as the weeks and months progress. If you like what you see though, you can get wishlisting on Steam. This one will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Steam!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
