Return to Sicily: An Origin Story

Forget the sprawling streets of Lost Heaven or New Bordeaux for now; Mafia: The Old Country takes players back to the brutal underworld of early 1900s Sicily. T

his prequel focuses on the story of Enzo Favara, a man who, through grit and determination, survived a harsh childhood and now has the chance to join Don Torrisi’s crime family. You’ll follow Enzo as he takes the oath and works his way up, embodying the core Mafia tenets of loyalty, honour, and obedience.

Mafia: The Old Country is a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay,” said Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes. “That focus allows us to deliver a story that’s gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional.“.

Hangar 13 has meticulously recreated the period-authentic backdrop of Sicily to tell this unforgettable origin story.

Gameplay: Brutal, Refined, and Focused

This entry marks a return to a more linear narrative structure for the series, aiming for a highly-polished experience that doesn’t demand huge time commitments. “We think there’s a large audience for compelling stories that don’t require massive time commitments,” stated 2K President David Ismailer.

The new gameplay trailer showcases a mix of familiar Mafia action, refined and presented with the power of Unreal Engine 5 – a first for the franchise. Expect intense, life-or-death combat featuring both brutal melee encounters (with weapons like the stiletto blade) and gunplay using period-authentic firearms like handguns, rifles, and the iconic Lupara shotgun.

Traversal involves both era-appropriate automobiles and horseback riding across the rugged Sicilian landscape.
