Getting ready for the new football season? Or are you just looking to run-and-gun like there is no tomorrow? Whichever, Antstream have got your back with the latest additions to the world’s biggest retro games library.

Once again, as another week rolls through, come a couple of new additions to the Antstream Arcade games library. Whether you play on Xbox, PC, mobile or more, if you have a hankering for the old-school, if you are in need of some retro kicks, then Antstream Arcade should be your bag. Consider this week’s new drops of Premier Manager 98 and B.O.B. and the exctiement levels should ramp right up.

Premier Manager 98

Premier Manager 98 is now on Antstream

If you are unaware, Premier Manager 98 first launched on PC back in 1997, before rolling out to the world of PlayStation in 98 (it’s this version that is on Antstream), all thanks to the Gremlin Interactive team. It went down brilliantly too, becoming one of the highest selling games in 1998.

There’s no doubt that football management games have long been a staple genre in the UK and across Europe, achieving great success and annual sales and in Premier Manager 98, you get to take on the task of managing a football team. It’s here where you’ll be responsible for picking the players, setting training and tactics, player transfers and even some of the financial decisions.

A couple of game modes are on offer, with arcade allowing the player to choose their club and run with it, and simulation mode giving them the chance to start in the lower leagues and take their club to glory. As you may expect to hear, Premier Manager 98 focuses on the 1997-1998 seasons and runs through the top four English football divisions.

B.O.B.

On the completely other end of the gaming spectrum is B.O.B., otherwise known as Space Funky B.O.B.

This is a run and gun platformer that was originally released in 1993 by Electronic Arts on SNES (the version you’ll be playing) and Megadrive. The game features the titular B.O.B., a humanoid robot, who happens to have been stranded on an alien planet. Packing in plenty of fun along the way, players are tasked with helping B.O.B. escape the planet, and two more that he will also be stranded on, and hopefully find love.

Players will have a time limit to reach the end of each level, while avoiding or destroying enemies. B.O.B. is armed with a gun that can be swapped out to fire in different patterns, and can crouch, jump and hang from bars on the ceiling to avoid hazards. He is also equipped with various gadgets, with limited uses, to help reach the exit.

New challenges!

“Many an hour has been lost in trying to guide a football team to the top of a league, and we are so excited to provide that experience for Antstream players with Premier Manager 98. One for the football fans who want to do more than just kick a ball. B.O.B., on the other hand, is a fun-packed game that will appeal to all retro fans. A great pair of titles to join the ever-growing Antstream library this week.” – Steve Cottam, CEO of Antstream.

Further, there’s a new challenge available in the Antstream Arcade library too, taking place in Mutation Nation (Arcade) and is called “Evolution At Its Finest”. There are also two tournaments running with the One Chance weekly tournament in Metal Slug, called “One Chance To Slug It Out”, and the “Restricted Access” monthly tournament in R-Type.

Get involved now!

You’ll find Antstream Arcade on the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You should know by now that there are two versions – a 12-month long sub, or a full lifetime of retro glory.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
